Dozens of celebrities and A-listers took to New York as the annual Met Gala (or Met Ball if you please) took place. This particular gathering, a fundraising gala for the Metropolitan's Museum of Art's Costume Institute, is the event of season for the East Coast.
Anna Wintour, "Vogue" editor-in-chief and real-life Miranda Priestly, oversees the event with her staff all over the scene. This year seemed particular star-studded as potential drama lay all over the red carpet, and inside, too.
Think about it. Yes, there are just as many celebrities at the Golden Globes and Oscars. Those events just involve our favorites sitting politely as we hope they will give someone a shady look, or a roll of the eyes. The Met Ball is a different story though. It is pure interaction, and what I wouldn't give to see Lady Gaga and Madonna cross paths in the ladies room. Or to see Katy and Taylor pretend to play nice all evening.
So here are my thoughts on all the things that could have gone wrong at the Met Gala with all the frenemies lurking around.
1. Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato
These two used to be besties on the Disney Channel but the past couple years have been rocky. Lovato supposedly deleted Gomez off Twitter two years ago, and it's been unclear as to where the two stand as of now. I would bet they ran into each other though as Nick Jonas was also in attendance. Jonas was most likely going with Lovato as they are best friends, tour mates and business partners. We can only hope that Jonas dragged Lovato to say hello to Selenerrrr.
2. Kanye West and Taylor Swift
Swift actually co-hosted the event since she is an NYC resident. West showed up (looking less than glamorous, I might add) with wife Kim Kardashian. After West called out Swift in his new single, I wonder if the two exchanged words at all. If they did, I can bet West was the upmost gentleman about it....kidding, folks.
3. The Jenner Family
Kris, Kylie and Kendall Jenner were all accounted for at the ball. However, I am honestly not sure why as these ladies are normally more West Coast bound. The reality stars usually have a little bit of drama following them so why not crash the biggest event of the season with just that? Nothing breaks headlines like a scandal.
4. Madonna and Lady Gaga
Madonna was in attendance as her worldwide "Rebel Heart" tour ended in March. Of course, New York native Gaga was there as well. Though Gaga has often looked to Madonna for inspiration in the past, Madonna called Gaga and her music "reductive" in an interview several years back. I bet that would have been a fun run-in. (Please note that what Madonna is wearing, and think about her age. No ma'am.)
5. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry
Honestly, this feud is more than likely fan-made. I love it just the same. I can honestly see these two being rivals though because they have similar characteristics but very different aesthetics.
6. Katy Perry and Taylor Swift
These two just might have bad blood. It was said that Swift was attached to the hip with Gomez all night. And maybe Perry's presence had something to do with it. Luckily for Swift, Perry was attached to someone else's hip: Orlando Bloom!
7. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart
Who doesn't love randomly running into their ex with their new significant other? I bet Stewart loved it! Turns out that Stewart actually broke up with her girlfriend a mere three days after the Met Gala. Coincidence? I sure hope not!
8. Solange Knowles
With the new release of "Lemonade," I think we can all agree that Knowles might have been on edge. I think it could be time for another elevator fiasco.
9. Nicki Minaj
You have already heard about Minaj throwing some major shade at Lovato during the red carpet. Lovato took to Instagram saying that she will stay home next year as this moment was really uncomfortable for her. We know her Minajesty is no stranger to awkward encounters (flashback to calling out Miley Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards). I wonder who else Minaj exchanged words with during the Met Gala.
