No matter what kind of music you listen to, a new album is the best thing to come into the world. It brings a new surge of joy as your favorite artists release their new tracks and music videos into the world. But sadly, people can be really judgmental when you answer the age old question of "What kind of music do you like?" Because of this, I usually just say that I listen to everything (except Country. I don't hate it; I just grew out of the taste for it).
So what do you do when people hate on your music?
1. Tell them to back off
You have a right to listen to your own music. Don't be afraid to walk away.
2. Show them what they are missing out on
Because, chances are, what you are listening to could be what they've been missing in their lives.
3. Stand up for your people
Just because whoever you're talking to doesn't understand the person behind the artist, doesn't mean that you can't stand up for your people, no matter how weird they are.
4. Question their favorite artist
Chances are their favorite artist is nothing like yours, and so there isn't really anything to compare.
5. Shrug it off
You'll always have your music, and they can have theirs. You'll always have your superior music, and they'll have whatever they listen to.
As an American who is in love with K-Pop, especially BTS, I get a lot of the hate. K-Pop is on the rise, and it's really different for people to have to get used to. With BTS having their newest album coming out on October 10th, (which it already has in Korea, but not yet in America) I know I'll receive a good bit of criticism.
But how can you say no to these faces?
You don't need to know who they are to really appreciate their music.
I mean, I do, and I know a good bit of some of their dances.
They may constantly change their hairstyles and color, but BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) is honestly the reason that I am who I am today. They give me such a light and fire (no pun intended) in my life because that's who they are.
They are wonderful people, and I am so looking forward to purchasing their album when it gets released. I may cry a little, but it's always happy tears.
Moral to the story, don't knock other people's music. You don't know what that artist or theme does for them.
