Making it to the end of life is when people truly realize that they never really lived. In March of 2015 an Australian nurse, Bronnie Ware conducted a survey of her patients in a nursing home during their final weeks. The five most regretted mistakes were,
5) "I wish I had let myself be happier."
4) "I wish I stayed in touch with family and friends more."
3) "I wish I had the courage to pursue things."
2) "I wish I hadn't focused on work so much."
1) "I wish I had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me."
Out of these five regrets Bronnie has written a book called, "Top Five Regrets Of Dying," Hoping to help us learn about living before it's too late.
If people would ask themselves, "Am I just working for the weekend?" and answered, "Yes." They need to realize they're living for all the wrong reasons. The World is a gift and if it isn't taken advantage of by you, then who will take advantage of it? We don't choose dreams, dreams choose us. However, only we can choose whether we make that dream a reality or a fantasy. We need to find the courage and the boldness to pursue great things. The great thing about being on the bottom is the only way left to go is up. What we often assume is that in the beginning a sailor can get a boat and sail immediately, but one of the biggest things we all learn is smooth seas never made a skilled sailor. Scientists say, "People are more open to the idea of driving for travel and staying on the ground, when in reality statistics show it's safer to fly than stay on the ground." When on the ground you're too close to see the view of the world, but when in the air everything is in front of you and in perspective. Most people are afraid of other people when we should be scared of ourselves. The doubts we have in our mind can rob us of the courage we need to do the things we want. When we want something, do we kind of want it, or do we want it. There's a difference between doubt and struggle, doubt is never going anywhere and struggle is moving through faith and perseverance. You will fall many times but who's counting? If anyone's counting it's because of their doubt, and while they're doubting you're climbing mountains because there are no smooth mountains. While we live out our generation we're selling inspiration to those in desperation in the next generation. It's up to us if our last words are, "If only I had just."
