A Letter To My Teachers

To all my teachers,

Thank you for putting up with my constant inconsistency of my schoolwork. Some of you I liked, others not so much. But for this, I'm going to call out on the school teachers who made an impact on my life, because all of you deserve to be recognized since you don't get payed enough. Might as well deserve some recognition.

To my Junior History Teacher, thank you for always watching out for my career. You gave me so many ideas but in reality, you were the final spark in me becoming a history. I thank you for that final push, although you may not know it. Also, thanks for writing my recommendation letter, although I still have no idea what you put on there.

To my Junior Theater teacher. You were honestly the Lion from the Wizard of Oz. However, you were such a kind old man, always encouraging us to pursue our dreams. I'm so happy you now have a better position so you can do more to help the students.

To my Media teacher, you were basically my second mother. Whether it was letting me sleep through two of my classes when I honestly felt like I was going to die or entrusting me to go live on TV a month into everything, you always believed I could do it. But the funniest part was how I was probably the least qualified student to do everything you told me to do since I had no prior experience. Yet I seemed to nailed everything, mostly because you were a pretty awesome teacher.

Now to my Senior Chorus teacher. Oh boy where do I begin with your sarcastic self. First off, you definitely had some serious patience to put up with ALL the coughing throughout that year. However, you overall made me a better singer than I ever expected to be. I've joined another choir where I can hold my own, but it just doesn't feel the same. Our director is actually extremely nice and soft spoken. It feels really weird to not hear any sarcastic backlash from him, or even furious outbursts when we can't accomplish anything. Just goes to show even the smallest (and the loudest) never go forgotten. You definitely left an impact.

And lastly, my Theater Director. You are honestly the best director I could've asked. You have entrusted me with so many different roles and most importantly, believed I could do it, even when I thought I couldn't do it. Whether it may be completely changing my role a month before the show, or giving me the best and most iconic role I will ever remember, you never lost faith. You made me grow so much as an actor, and though I may not have landed the auditions this semester, I know I'll do better next semester and it will be thanks to you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
