Dear Mom,
I’m writing this to thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I am forever grateful for you.
Thank you for raising me. I know there are girls in the world who are not as fortunate as I am, and I am really lucky to have you there for me no matter what. Thank you for allowing me to grow up in a wonderful environment.
Thank you for taking care of me. Thank you for bringing me to all of my doctor’s appointments and staying home from work to take care of me. Also, thank you for going to work instead of staying home when I was older. It taught me how to take care of myself instead of relying on someone else.
Thank you for disciplining me. It is a very weird thing to thank you for, but it has helped shape me as the wonderful person that I am today. Thank you for teaching me my manners, how to behave in public, and what I should never do. Without your discipline, who knows what kind of person I would actually be.
Thank you for being my number one fan and supporting me through whatever I decided to do. Thank you for always bringing me to practice or rehearsal or whatever activity I had that night. Also, thank you for investing so much in the activity I did; it means more than you’ll ever know.
Thank you for celebrating my triumphs with me. I have accomplished many things throughout my short life, and you have always been the first person I tell. The way you get excited about my different opportunities gets me excited as well. From telling you little things, like getting an A on that random paper, to the big things, like getting that job: thank you for always getting excited about it.
Thank you for always being that shoulder to cry on for me. While I have had many triumphs, there have also been heartbreaks. For every single one of those heartbreaks, I have relied on you to comfort me. From getting a bad grade on an exam to being broken up with, thank you for letting me cry and vent and cry even more.
Thank you for loving me. It always feels good when I tell you “I love you” and you say right back to me “I love you more.” Thank you for showing me how much a mother truly loves her daughter.
Thank you for everything, Mom. I love you.
