Aggieland Is Back

Whoop to another school year starting!

Aggieland Is Back

Aggieland is back in full swing, and it's oh so exciting! With the 60,000 students of Texas A&M flooding back into the BCS area, the stillness of summer is gone. There's more traffic, longer lines at all of our favorite restaurants, and less cell service pretty much everywhere (hang up and hang out, people). But at the same time, there's more friendly faces, more Aggies at every corner, and less waiting for football season (T minus six days, y'all).

With more people flooding campus, there are so many more cars on the streets. Make sure to leave yourself plenty of time to get to classes. Try to carpool with friends when possible and take the bus - because we're students and it's free! In general, be aware that it's going to take longer than you expect to get anywhere for the next few weeks. It may be frustrating, but don't get too frustrated because there's an Aggie in front or behind you and that's exciting!

So, you want to get Fuego late at night? It was never crowded over the summer at this time? Well, I got news for you. All of your favorite restaurants are going to be constantly crowded every day of the week. Don't let long lines keep you from satisfying your cravings! Go out and meet new people while you wait a good 15 minutes to get your food. Yes, it's annoying and you may be hangry, but there's always someone friendly looking to get to meet you. Make the most of the wait and share that Aggie camaraderie that lives inside each of us.

It's the beginning of another fall semester which means that we have a full semester of Fighting Texas Aggie football to look forward to! Whether you're lucky enough to snag a seat with a Corps boy or stuck in the third deck heat, Aggies are finally back together doing what we love - standing for hours in the beloved Kyle Field. Being at Kyle Field make up for the ridiculously slow traffic and overcrowded restaurants. The Spirit of Aggieland is about to get hype, and Aggies everywhere are making sure that their game day outfits are ready for the Texas heat this week and for many weekends to follow.

While it can be irritating to constantly be stuck in traffic and waiting at lights seems like an eternity, the fall in College Station is one of the best times of the year. Football season as a student at Texas A&M brings so many fun weekends, road trips, and good memories. As alumnae, kids are decked out in maroon and old college pals reunite for tailgates with season tickets in hand.

Aggieland is back in full swing, and the whoops are real.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
