The beauty industry markets itself to create a better maybe even more artistic version of ourselves yet many cosmetic companies have a dark side to them. Many animal rights activist are fighting for beauty companies to stop testing on animals. In order to help further protest unnecessary testing on animals here are some cruelty free beauty products.
1. e.l.f.
This brand is one of the cheapest cruelty free beauty brands and offer a wide variety of beauty products including brushes, brush cleaners, foundation, primers, eye shadows, blush/bronzer, eyeliners, etc.
2. Eco Tools
Not only are they made from bamboo which is highly sustainable, but they are also made out of soft synthetic bristles instead of animal hair which makes them vegan. They also donate 1 percent of their annual sales to 1% for the Planet.
3. NYX
NYX is a cruelty free branch of cosmetics, however, they are currently owned by L’Oréal. L’Oréal is not a cruelty free company overall, but NYX is a cruelty free branch of this company. Many animal rights activist stray from NYX because they do not want to give any money toward L’Oréal. Others continue to purchase from NYX, while abstaining from L’Oréal’s main products in an effort to show L’Oréal how cruelty free products are not only kinder but also more profitable. They hope to inspire the company to become completely cruelty free.
4. Milani
Milani is certified by the Leaping Bunny program as being cruelty free. All of their products are cruelty free and they cater to a wider variety of skin tones compared to most drugstore cosmetic companies.
5. Physicians Formula
This cruelty free brand is in the higher price range of drugstore cosmetics, however they test the safety of their products “in-vitro' testing, human clinical evaluations and human use-trials under the supervision of a Board Certified Dermatologist."
6. Wet n Wild
This cruelty free brand also makes a point to work with third party vendors who are also cruelty free. They are also certified by PETA as a cruelty free brand.
7. Pacifica
This brand is not only cruelty free, but they are also paraben free and sulfate free. They use natural and essential oils for their fragrances and strive to be eco-friendly because they do not “support the use of naturals that are threatened or where the harvesting of the plant endangers biodiversity or causes other environmental issues.”
