Leaving behind younger friends in high school is heartbreaking. I think of you all everyday and am living for your instagram posts. For my little friends finishing up high school, here's a few things I want you to remember as you get through the year.

1. Your worth comes from God and nobody else

My sweet little friend you are perfectly imperfect. He has already decided your worth. Never let a boy, a friend, or a grade define who you are. You are worth diamonds and pearls and if God says it, then trust Him!

2. High school is not the best time of your life

Please don't feel like these years are meant to be the peak of your existence. High School is alight, College is great too! You will have amazing moments throughout your whole life. I never loved high school, but so far college has been amazing! You will find you group and your passions when the time is right!

3. I miss you

Not a single day passes where I don't think of you. I see your posts and seeing you happy makes me happy too. I miss giving you advice, helping you with homework, and just being there for you. It may not seem like it, but you taught me so much. You taught how impactful my words can be. You taught me that by helping someone, you can change their entire attitude. You taught me that I could be a big sister to someone even if we aren't related my blood.

4. I am here for you

I am always always here. I know that my college seems so far from your high school but I promise to always make time for you. My dorm doors are always open and I promise I never leave my room without my cell phone. No matter where you are or how old we get I will always be here through the good and the bad.

5. You are beautiful

I wish I could tell you this everyday when you question what you are wearing or if your makeup looks ok. You are so beautiful. You are beautiful in the way you treat others. You are beautiful in the way you laugh at your mistakes. You are beautiful in the way that you accept others for who they are. You are beautiful.

6. You are strong

I have seen you grow so much in such a short time. I have seen you overcome obstacles and do things you never imagined you would do. I have seen you cry and I have seen you conquer. I have seen you fail and I have seen you learn. Most importantly, I have seen you become strong and independent. You go girl!

7. You can overcome anything

media.giphy.com

You really can. I know at times this seems so hard and the world crumbles in around you. At the end of the day, I believe in you. I always believe in you. I have seen you do amazing things and I know that you are unstoppable.

8. Your hard-work will pay off

media.giphy.com

Keep on working hard. It will pay off in the end. On day you will be so thankful you were as dedicated, ambitious, and determined as you are. I'm so proud of you.

9. Girls are mean but you are not

media.giphy.com

Girls will break your heart harder and quicker than any boy ever could. Your best friends will become strangers and at times you will feel so alone. You might want to get even, to make sure that ex-friend knows how wrong they are, but you shouldn't. You are kind, you are patient, and you are forgiving. In life you will have to forgive people who aren't sorry and accept apologies that you will never receive. You are kind enough and smart enough to do this.

10. I love you

media.giphy.com

I do. I love you so much! You're like a little sister to me and I would do anything for you. I will beat up any boy who breaks your heart and be there when you have the worst of days. You mean so much to me and if it weren't for you, I never would have known just how important younger friends are. Keep on being you! There truly is nobody better!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
