Dear Sister,
I want to start by saying, you're doing great. You have made it thirteen years on this earth and you are still the girl I met when I was five years old. With all of the technology and advancements that are in place today, it's hard to remain true to yourself and keep your values intact; you are still you.
I have watched you grow up from the day we arrived at our little home in November of 2002. From that day forward I have admired and adored you every second of every day. You were the happiest baby I had ever seen; you smiled as soon as you came into the world. The joy and happiness that you brought into our little family was undeniable. I spent days on end writing your name on pieces of paper- that's how excited I was to meet you. You became a constant fixture in the games that I had played with imaginary friends.
As you enter High School and open up this new chapter of your life, I want you to know that you are not me. The struggles I faced are not predetermined to be yours as well. You will pave a brand new path for yourself that is free of obstacles that I may have run into. This is your time to begin to figure out who you are and who you want to be. Anything is possible! Open your mind and your heart to these new experiences because I promise you will grow and change in the most wonderful ways. The people you are about to meet are going to give you so many different perspectives on the world and those perspectives are going to play to your advantage significantly.
Anyone who knows me will know that I talk about you constantly, and not being with you every day only feeds my conversations more. There are not enough words in the world to explain how much I admire you and your beauty and your confidence. My hope for you is that you remain levelheaded and strong. Don't ever change yourself for anyone else; don't pretend to be someone that you're not just to please others around you. Most importantly, don't lose who you are. I love you so much and you will always be my little sister, even though you are now taller than me.
Love always- your sister.
