Patience is probably one of the hardest qualities to master, mostly because our human nature craves that instant gratification. It's not easy to train your mind to wait, but it's so important to understand that not everything will work out right away. Great things usually take some time, so here's why you should stop stressing it and let life take its course.

Sometimes without instant results we become discouraged, we let ourselves lose that motivation and decide that it's no longer worth it. But I'm here to tell you that whatever goals you set for yourself they are completely attainable, you just need to work at them every day without giving up. Sometimes I get these little reassurances from the universe, letting me know I'm on the right track, and that's what keeps me going - knowing that I have something to offer, and that one day all of my hard work will pay off.

There is such a thing as a window of opportunity, and it doesn't open on it's own very often; but just because there isn't an opportunity throwing itself at you, doesn't mean that you can't create one for yourself. Sometimes you just have to get up, walk over to that window and open it yourself. Find what you love, whatever your talent may be, and look for ways to exercise it and perfect it. You don't have to be the best to be worth something, and the more you work towards what you love the happier you will be.

So take it one day at a time, put one foot in front of the other. No matter how hopeless a situation may seem, there's always a way to make it better. Don't expect for things to just happen, make moves toward where you want to be and before you know it, you'll surpass those small goals you had set for yourself. If you don't like where you are, move. You are in control of what you do with your free time, so spend it working towards something greater. If you like to help others, join a service project in your community, if you like to create different forms of art, find some kind of platform that allows you to share your talent with others. Opportunity is all around you; as technology and social media continue to advance, we are able to create more and more ways to share our ideas.

Everything might not make sense right now, but one day it will all fall into place. The only thing holding you back from where you want to go is yourself, so work toward your dreams and don't lose hope. Something great is about to happen to you, you just have to be patient and wait for it.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
