If you haven't heard of "The Office," then what are you doing with your life? No, I'm kidding, but really, everyone should watch this show if they need a laugh. It's a show about a failing paper company called Dunder Mifflin, and it really sheds light on the struggles that come with adulting (aka working your life away). I may not work in an office and sit behind a desk all day, but that doesn't mean I can't relate to this show. "The Office" truly does capture adulting perfectly. So sit back, and see how adulting is portrayed through this magnificent artwork of a show.
1. "On this show, all three judges are mean." - Andy
Oh, Andy. You are probably one of the most annoying characters; however, you have a point here. Being an adult is all a big show, and some (not all) people are mean. Employers, coworkers, etc. can be a bit harsh at times, but I guess that's just something we all have to deal with.
2. "You had black hair and then gray hair." - Dwight
Wow, Dwight, you know us so well. This is really not an "adulting" thing so much as it is a life thing, but I do think when you enter adulthood gray hairs start mysteriously showing up at a fast pace. Dye those hairs, ladies and gentlemen.
3. "I understand nothing."-Michael
Michael, you are all of us. As you enter the arena that is adult life, you're supposed to learn more right? Well, I can't tell you how many times I think this to myself on an everyday basis. The struggle is definitely real.
4. "Everything I have I owe to this job...this stupid, wonderful, boring, amazing job." - Jim
I feel you, Jim. Having a job pays for the important things: food, clothes, oh, and college. Without my job I'd be a broke college kid. Oh wait.
5. "I am running away from my responsibilities, and it feels good."-Michael
Michael has the best quotes, let's be real. I relate to this one more than I probably should. Adulting is hard, OK?
6. "Be strong, trust yourself, conquer your fears, just go after what you want, and act fast because life just isn't that long."-Pam
I have no words for this. Speak the truth, Pam, speak the truth.
"The Office" has characters in it that I believe anyone can relate to. If you can't relate to any of the above quotes, no need to fear. Your time will come. Can't wait to really enter adult life (sarcasm), but I'm going to enjoy my college years as much as I can. Maybe I'll be ready for adulting, but probably not. I've already had a taste of it, and some of it makes me want to vomit. Cheers to adult life!
