The Nickelodeon show "Spongebob" has rightfully earned its place in pop culture, easily recognizable by children and adults alike. The character of Spongebob, none other than the protagonist obviously, has earned his place in our hearts as the bubbly Sponge who won't take no for an answer and is always trying to seek the next adventure. However, his fellow character Squidward has earned a rep as a pessimist who wants nothing more than to be left alone, especially by Spongebob. As we get older though, are Squidward's observations of life really so unrelatable and inaccurate, though? Below are some examples of Squidward just saying what is on his mind.
I feel like we have all been hit by that bout of guilt for watching Netflix for hours on end instead of getting our lives together.
Whether it is sleep deprivation, or simply wishing that we could put off our responsibilities, sometimes we get those headaches that even an iced coffee and Advil can't cure.
An aspect of adulthood can also be the pressure to find and keep a significant other, especially if you feel like everywhere you turn you see couples. Squidward was just letting us know in advance that Valentines' Day can also double as Single Awareness day.
This one needs no explanation. Whether it's the commute to school or work, all-nighters where you're up studying, or one too much "Game of Thrones" sometimes adulthood means accepting exhaustion as a regular state.
When we finally do get a break from the chaos that can be life, our big plans include a warm shower and sleeping for 12 hours straight. Squidward was definitely right on the sleeping front.

However, Mr. Tentacles isn't all doom and gloom. Like we all hopefully do, he recognizes that he is quite the special gem even in the midst of being the pessisimist that adulthood occasionally turns us all into.
