Adulthood As Told By Spongebob

Even living in a pineapple under the sea can be hard.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like as I grow older, I begin to realize Spongebob is even more relatable than ever before. Who would have thought that a cartoon sponge living under the sea could represent so many of the feelings many of us have on a regular basis? For our ups and our downs, through the regular everyday, Spongebob characters are able to embody many of the feelings we go through as we slowly leave behind our adolescence and once and for all, finally enter adulthood. Here are eleven times Spongebob Squarepants said it all in one picture.

1. Graduation

Finally, you've made it.

2. Getting the "big kid" job that you've always wanted.

You begin to realize that maybe all the stress really was worth it.

3. Celebrating all of your latest successes.

Graduation, your new job, you're on top of the world and no one can stop you.

4. Enjoying your six month student loan grace period.

It's a wonderful thing.

5. But then your bills start coming in...

Between phone bills, rent, and the inevitable student loans, you realize your days of endless spending are soon gonna be over. And your wardrobe is probably gonna take a hit because of it.

6. And all of your other responsibilities.

Adulting really is hard.

7. The nine-to-five starts to get monotonous.

The weeks seem a little bit longer when your schedule is the exact same everyday.

8. Your adult schedule makes you tired by 10 pm. Even on the weekends.

So much for Thirsty Thursdays and staying out until 1am, you've gotta be in work at nine.

9. You begin wondering when all of your friends grew up.

Today you logged onto Facebook, and three people were engaged, two got married, and one just found out she's pregnant.

10. You look at care-free high school and college students on their breaks while you're working, and think "that used to be me."

And also: enjoy it while it lasts, kids.

11. And then you begin to realize that even with all of the grown-up-ness that you're dealing with right now, you're finally where you've always wanted to be.

Hopefully.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
