The Truth About Adulthood

Being an adult never seemed so scary.

The Truth About Adulthood

Growing up has never been so unappealing until it is actually time to do it. All throughout our young lives, especially the middle and high school years, we were all dying to leave the nest. That time is officially upon us, going off to college, applying or paying for loans, looking for apartments. It is almost as if we bit off a lot more than we can chew.

In the beginning, the idea of adult hood came off as a fantasy. Living on your own, by your own rules no one to tell you what you can and can't do. After a year in college, reality really set in. What we failed to realize is, adult hood was no where close to a fantasy but more of a horror show. The worries of having to do things on your own because mom and dad can't be there for you like they once were. It has come to that time where we're ready to do more, but we aren't too sure how to exactly do so. Scholarships are in need of being done, dorm life was never for you so you want an apartment. An apartment! That means bills, freedom, and bills. Having to organize your life will only get harder and things will only continue to pile up. The pressure is on, you are responsible for yourself now. How will you make it through this day? Once you get a real job to pay for your real bills, or your loans how are you going to handle it? If mom or dad cuts off the money supply what will be your "legal" plan A, B and C?

Life is currently hitting us faster than allergies in the spring time. It seems as if it is just one thing after another. If we aren't worrying about passing the school year, we are worrying about what we're going to do over the summer to do better. Oh and those poor seniors who graduated this past year. Kudos to you for taking adult hood on, they are officially in it! Adulthood never seemed so real until we were all forced into it. The idea of being able to do what we want when we want was the highlight but in the back of our minds we hoped that we would always have our back bones, the place where we can run to when stuff gets tough. That's no longer the case. Being an adult is no movie, no red carpet show. It's a lot harder than our former teen minds led us to think, and as the years continue it will only grow to be harder. It is up to us, and our knowledge on how we think things should go will lead us into handling adult hood with our sanity.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
