Why You Should Adopt A Shelter Pet, As Told By Eddie The Corgi

Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi guys! Hi! I’m Eddie and I’m a corgi and I want to be your friend! If you look at the cover photo, you can tell that I am the happiest, cutest, most handsome little dog you ever did see! At least that’s what my family tells me and I love them very much so it has to be true!

My family is my mom, my dad, my two sisters, and my brother. My big sister Sarah usually writes on this page, but she let me type today, even though I have short little legs. She let me write this because I just celebrated my second year with my family and I wanted to tell everyone about it! I am very happy to be with my family because they rescued me and made me healthy. I hope that everybody hears my story because I hope that every shelter dog and…cat…I hate cats…gets to find a family too.

About two years ago I was running around town all alone. I was scared and hungry and couldn’t remember where my people had gone or what had happened to me. Some nice people from the no-kill animal shelter found me and took me with them. They figured out that I had clogged anal glands; this had made me chew off all the fur on my butt which had given me an infection. It was a good thing they found me and made me better!

But wait, here comes my favorite part! My family came in to look for a dog! They almost gave up, but then a nice lady remembered that I was in the office and introduced me to them! I loved them right away and they loved me back! They decided to adopt me and came to take me home a few days later. I was so excited!

My life at my house has been great! I get treats, toys, and all the tummy rubs I could ever want! My life has been the best because my family rescued me!

But there are lots of other pets that live in shelters that want to be adopted and have a family as great as mine. They could have been on the loose like me, surrendered by a family who couldn’t keep them, or saved from a puppy mill. Some of these animals also aren’t as lucky as I was to have gone to a no-kill shelter and die because there isn’t enough room for them. Help me save my friends in shelters by making them a part of your family!

Well, this has been so much fun! As much as I love you and want you to stay, I have lots of playing and barking to catch up on! See you later!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
