I Admit I Am Scared

"and I did not speak out—"

Looking at President Donald Trump's twitter on February 9, 2017, the first tweet on his profile (the most recent) is "SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!" What President tweets in all caps, like some angry college kid that is angry over a loss in a sports game? Is that how a President acts? The only one we have had to look to is President Barack Obama and that poor man served his 8 years unappreciated. Donald Trump is President, his behavior is what it is. That makes me scared.

It is has been less than a month since the inauguration and President Trump has given everyone a run for their money except the people who actually have it. The way he goes about things - he doesn't deal with them like an adult should nevermind a President. Directly, he attacked Senator Richard Blumenthal for disagreeing with him on nominating Judge Neil M. Gorsuch for the Supreme Court. This attack, low and behold, was on twitter of all places. What adult subtweets, or actually directly, tweets about someone? This is the Kim Kardashian-Taylor Swift feud all over again.

Luckily for us, he introduced alternative facts! What are those? I have no idea. Apparently, according to the President of the United States, any bad news displayed in the media about him is fake news. He took his attacks to a broader aspect - again, on twitter - but this time attacking multiple companies on a social media platform.

Most recently we have the fan favorite - the travel ban. I use "fan favorite" sarcastically, considering there were multiple peaceful protests against the ban. Trump credits to poor airline performance, claiming that they get nothing from the Middle East. The ban was against Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen - all the countries that he is not in business with. Syrian refugees banned indefinitely. This targets all that have temporary citizenship and cannot come back to the United States from their home countries, meaning students that go home for vacations. In what world is it okay to deny students access to their education that they equally work for as the other American citizens?

Most of you know all of this, it's in the news. No one needs to read this article to learn about what Trump is doing. The reasoning for this is because we are letting him get away with this. As a country, we close our doors along with him.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
