As a college student, I cannot count the number of times I thought something was going to go one way and was completely blindsided by it going another.
My reaction to this? Complete mayhem.
I didn’t make my first bus on time and have to take the next one in 10 minutes? Great, now I don’t have time to buy my morning coffee before class starts.
I thought I was going to ace my exam but end up getting a D? Guess I’ll have to drop out of school now.
It’s raining and I didn’t bring an umbrella. I stand inside for an hour so that I don’t get soaked, therefore I’m an hour behind on my day.
Yes, these are all minor problems. But, to a college student, that has a million things going on at once, they are the end of a good day. We have to worry about classes, our social lives, and taking care of ourselves all at the same time. Room for error isn’t really an option in our set minds. So, unset them.
There will always be things in life that are uncontrollable. People don’t usually like the idea of not being in control, I know I don’t. But when those uncontrollable things happen, just brush them off. Look at what happened, say “well that sucks”, and move on. If you couldn’t control it, then what’s the point in letting your day suffer for it?
As humans, we are imperfect. It’s time to start letting our days be imperfect too.
It’s raining and I didn’t bring an umbrella…
As my Dad told me: Guess it’s time to get wet.
