Positivity And Good Vibes Are A Hoax, Acceptance Is The Key To A Happy Life

For a long time, I believed that being positive would cure all the "bad" situations in my life.

If I thought to myself that things would always get better or that a smile would fix a bad mood, everything would be OK.

But lately, I have been thinking that acceptance is greater than positivity.

Positivity is key to living a happy life, and it will get you through plenty of obstacles. However, there will come a time in life where positivity and "good vibes" do not help. Acceptance is our only option.

Acceptance is a better option than positivity because acceptance releases the power that situations can have over you. Positivity is only a mask when things do not go your way.

Positivity is a band-aid for when you're consumed by negative emotions or situations.

That is not to say that acceptance is always negative and that positivity is a bad way of coping with situations. You should be thinking positively when looking for ways to solve your problems, but there will come a time when things aren't going to be OK.

That is when acceptance is the answer.

Acceptance helps us cope with our struggles. It helps us realize that some things will never change and that there will be times when there is nothing you can possibly do to relieve a situation.

Acceptance gives us the power we need to overcome emotional triumphs.

By choosing acceptance, you remind yourself that what's happening in your life is not negative or positive, fair or unfair. It just is.

By accepting your situation, you align yourself with fact rather than the fallacies of positivity. This will give you the motivation to do what is right. When you accept your current circumstances and stop focusing on what is "wrong," you will be led to positive actions and affirmations.

Ultimately, life can be crazy at times.

There will be times when you are not happy with the outcome of a particular situation. There will be times when life just seems unfair.

However, sometimes no amount of positivity and influence can change a circumstance.

Positivity is just a coping mechanism for hard times.

Acceptance is how you get closure.

Accept life's challenges. Once you become mindful of your current situation, then you can look at it in a positive mindset.

Once you do that, you can positively let go and move on to bigger and better things.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
