Wilmington, Massachusetts is located in the northeastern part of Massachusetts. Having lived here for my entire 19 years, I have come to know the town very well. Wilmington is a very special town with many landmarks. To people, Wilmington may seem identical to the towns surrounding it, but the residents of Wilmington know what make it unique.
As Good As It Gets Cafe
It is one of the most popular places to get breakfast in town. If you're looking for a full description of the cafe, you can check of the feature about it on the phantom gourmet. What they won't tell you, however, is that when you walk in the door you better be expecting at least a 15-minute wait, but the food is good so you except it and sit patiently.
Baldwin Apple
It's the pride of Wilmington! According to the history, this type of apple was found by the first white settlers of Wilmington who then went on to plant a Baldwin apple tree in the town. What most residents know on the topic is that there is a monument of an apple on Chestnut Street and children in the town learn a song about it.
Carnival
The annual carnival is a very important tradition in Wilmington. People come from surrounding cities and towns to enjoy the rides and games suited for children of all ages. The Wilmington carnival is a representation of how family-oriented the town truly is, featuring 'Family Day' where tickets are discounted and events are scheduled all day.
There are 8 in Wilmington... So it's safe to say Wilmington runs on Dunkin's.
Easter Egg Hunt
Wilmington holds an annual Easter Egg Hunt on the common for all children looking to participate. This is another example of how family-oriented the town is.
Fireworks
The annual carnival comes hand-in-hand with the annual fireworks that are an event in their own. The town common is jam packed with people of all ages waiting for the show to start. With this being said, finding a spot is not so easy. People set their blankets and chairs out early in the morning in order to have prime viewing of the sparkling show.
Glen Road
The infamous road is always on the list of shortcuts when deciding what route to take. I use the work infamous to describe is because with Glenn Road now comes with what is known as the Glenn Road light. The newest installation was result of the many accidents caused at the end of the road. This has become the talk of the town with the amount of traffic it has brought with it. So if you ever find yourself in Wilmington and in need of a conversation starter, the Glenn Road light and the weather are great topics.
Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony
Another one of Wilmington's annual traditions. Every December, the town common is strung with lights along with being decorated with a massive Christmas tree. The town holds a ceremony where hot chocolate is served and the lights are illuminated for the rest of the month.

Ever hear of that Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Robert DiNero movie? Joy? Well, part of it was filmed right here in Wilmington, Massachusetts... pretty cool, I know.
Knights of Columbus

Where most town events are held. This hall holds a sufficient amount of people and makes for a great place to hold town events such as Breakfast with Santa and Karaoke Nights.
Location
Wilmington has great access to the highway, is about twenty minutes away from Boston, and is less than an hour away from dozens of beaches. What more could you need?
Memorial Day Parade
Every year Wilmington holds a parade on Memorial Day to honor the holiday. The parade is centered around all the town has to offer allowing many organizations to march.
Ninety-Nine Restaurant
Here we call it The Nines, and for many, wings are the meal of choice whether it be plain, buffalo, or gold fever. It's always a good idea to hit up The Nines when you're craving a wings-and-skins platter.
Old High School

The old public high school was built in 1950 and recently torn down in 2015. The old high school holds many memories for the residents of Wilmington who were born and raised here.
Plaza
The Wilmington Plaza is home to many stores including Panera Bread and Market Basket. It is also where a lot of middle school kids corral to hangout on half-days.
Quaint & Quiet

Having been all farm land, Wilmington is most definitely quaint and quiet. The town has since then industrialized with the rest of the country, but something about Wilmington still gives that old-fashioned feel.

One of the many Wilmington high school clubs that dedicate their time to serving the community. They participate in many activities including leaf raking.

Strings Attached is a strings program that is run through the public school system. It is the only program like it in the area and makes it easy for kids to learn to play an instrument and do their school work.
