To my mother:
It's been a rough 19 years that we've been together. We've had some ups and downs, some amazing memories and some horrible fights. In all honesty, I wouldn't change our relationship we have now for anything.
When I left for college, we did not have the best relationship. It was hard for me to leave, even though I knew this would be a mini vacation for me. After a while, I got really homesick and couldn't go more than one day without talking to you. It was going to be difficult coming from classes and not being able to tell you how my day was or talk about any boy drama I was dealing with.
I don't tell you how much I appreciate everything you've done for my brothers and I. I'm thankful for you going back to school to get a degree and going back to work. we struggled for years and I know it was hard for you to leave us for a while, but I know it was to give us a better life. I should tell you more often that I'm forever grateful for all the sacrifices you made in your life to make is happy.
You've been a role model in my life, teaching me to be we give up on my dreams. You were the person who inspired me to go to college and work hard and study hard so I could give my own children in the future a better life, a life you always wish I had. thank you for that.
Thank you for staying on the phone with me late nights when I'm stressed because of school and work. I know I call too late sometimes, but you always answer the phone. You still help me with my homework, even thought I'm 170 miles away from you. Even when I need someone just to talk to so I don't fall asleep while finishing a paper, you're always there for me.
Thank you for always sending me random gift packages just because you miss me and you know I'm running out of snacks and quarters for laundry. I love the surprise money in my account when you know I'm going out on the weekends. You never seem to disappoint me, especially when I really need it.
I haven't seen you in a while, and I just want you to know that no matter how far away I am from you and how much we fight, you'll always be my mother and I'll love you forever! Nothing can ever come between us. Just know that you shaped me into the young woman I am today.
