A Tale Of Two Identities

It all started on a dark and stormy night when I was sailing with my uncle, the famous Captain Will Hawk. The seas were high and the wind was strong, but with my uncle and I sailing the ship, nothing would be able to sink it. "Captain there be another ship approaching. Looks to be….. It is, tis the British. Uncle, what do you want to do?" I said standing my ground with a telescope in hand. "Lower the sails we can't fight in this weather." He shouted to the crew. "Emerald they are after me, now ye go hide. I promised your father that I wouldn't let you get captured by the British or by Captain Black. Now go find Mr. Smith and hide." My Uncle said. "Aye aye, sir" I said and gave him a hug before I ran off to find Mr. Smith.

As I was looking for Mr. Smith, I had to hide so that I wasn't seen, which I was very good at. I climbed up the ropes on to the mast and jumped down and grabbed onto a rope that was being thrust around by the wind. I landed on the deck and ran down to the bottom of the ship. As I was running I ran right into Mr. Smith. "Mr. Smith we have to hide my uncle is surrendering to the British, all they want is him" I said catching my breath.

"Alright come on me lady I know of a secret hiding spot that was created especially for this kind of situation." Mr. Smith said as I followed him. When we stopped all there was, was the wall of the ship. "Are ye sure this is the right spot?" "Aye me lady just watch." He said as he pulled the lantern and the wall of the ship opened up into a small room. After we walked in I felt the ship come to a sudden stop and that's when Mr. Smith shut the door and latched it shut."Mr. Smith why is my uncle surrendering? I thought a pirate is never supposed to unless it is a grave situation." I asked confused.

"Well, ye see me, lady, when your uncle was younger there was a woman by the name of Angela. She was the best thing that ever had happened to your uncle, he loved her very much. Yet one day exactly like this, the same thing happened and the British came after your uncle. He and Angela came and hid in this very here room. Since he wasn't going to surrender easily the British came on board and searched the ship for ye uncle. The British searched and searched, but alas they couldn't find your uncle until one soldier accidentally hit the lantern and the door opened. Your uncle stood in front of Angela ready to fight to keep her safe, but alas the solider hit your uncle on the head and knocked him out. That's how he got that scar right across his left eye. The solider took Angela and the British kept her as a prisoner instead of your uncle...

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
