I Tried A Sacred Feminine Healing Session And Felt Amazing: Here's What It Was Actually Like

Can women be healed and transformed through meditation?

With mental health sliding into the focus of the public eye, there are many options for someone looking to improve their situation. As someone who deals with anxiety and has issues with self-worth, I'm happy to explore my options and connect with people who offer support.

I'm Facebook friends with a local business owner, Brook, who used to practice therapy. Now, she's a writer and has her own podcast. In early 2020, she announced a new opportunity, called the Sacred Feminine Collective. She was offering 'circles' at a local juice bar and some free healing sessions for those who, "still feel self-doubt, anxiety, fear, or loneliness even when abundance surrounds you". I signed up for a healing session.

The sign-up process was easy. She sent me a link to a booking calendar. I picked a time and date and she sent an intake form with a few questions about my astrological signs, my experiences, and my goals. The sessions are offered either in-person or virtually. I chose in-person, but due to the timing of the COVID-19 outbreak, my appointment was changed to virtually at the last minute.

We both signed onto Zoom and the session began. Brook started out by explaining what the sacred feminine is. From what I understood, every woman has cycles in her body, which are linked to the greater rhythms of life, like the cycles of the moon. It's a belief that we all need to reclaim the living power and transformative potential of the sacred feminine, to feel her connection to the soul and the earth. It's a way to harness the ancient wisdom of the soul of the world to find healing. I found it interesting and agreed to continue.

I do enjoy things like astrology and tarot, so something like this wasn't a far stretch to me. I was eager to learn more. Brook asked for my moon sign (Gemini). She began explaining her interpretation of my moon sign and how this manifests in my daily life. She also talked about her personal experience learning about her moon sign. I was blown away by how spot on her descriptions were.

The next step was to talk a bit about my personal relationships, stress, and anything else that I wanted to share. It was much like a therapy session would go, with me unloading some of my personal history and experiences, and talking about my anxieties.

The second half of the 1.5 hour long session was dedicated to the meditation. Brook asked me to close my eyes and take several deep breaths. She explained that she would connect with the divine feminine and we would start the healing process. I didn't really know what to expect.

The first presence that Brook felt was Mary Magdalene. Brook explained that Mary Magdalene was there wrapping me in a cloak to shroud me in the love that I was lacking in my life. The next deity she saw was the Celtic goddess Brigid. Brook described a field of flowers where Brigid was walking with me towards a waterfall. She asked me to walk into the waterfall to have some of the pain washed away. Brook also described colors and lights, some of which I could see with my mind's eye. She also explained that Brigid and Mary Magdalene were trying to help me remove the block from my throat, which was preventing me from speaking my mind and standing up for myself. At the end of the meditation session, Brook asked how the experience was for me and how I was feeling.

I enjoyed the session. I think it unfortunately came at a weird time. I would have preferred to have this session in-person and the stress that I felt when the COVID-19 shutdowns began was overwhelming. However, the session was still helpful. I found Brook's insight on my moon sign incredibly accurate and she was very kind and warm throughout the entire hour and a half. I also was really interested by the moment where she described the block in my throat because that is also accurate. I also believed she helped open my eyes to some of my behaviors and how my past has led me to who I am today.

One session isn't enough to completely peel away all the layers, but it was still an intriguing experience that I'd be open to doing again. If you're interested in learning more or booking a virtual session with Brook, you can check out her website. Part of life is evolving and becoming a better version of yourself, and I'm always willing to try new things.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
