A Letter To My Long Distance Best Friend

Kim,

People have come in and out of my life sine you and I have known each other. Good people, bad people... really bad people. Yet, you remained. You remained because I truly believe you are meant to be in my life and you are meant to be my person.

We only became close our senior year of high school together; RT or Die! (iykyk). But I am so incredibly thankful for that. I knew I didn't need to have you as a friend for years prior to know you'd be my life long best friend.

You are the person I can go to with anything. Any drama, (friends, BOYS (haha), family, school... anything!) and I'm so blessed to have your ear to listen to all of my messes. You always give me an unbiased opinion; telling me whether I am in the right or I am in the wrong. You support me with every decision I make: the good and the bad ones.

You believed in me when I couldn't believe in my own self. You have shown me time and time again your endless support towards me. You've never once doubted me and you always make sure I persist with my life and goals. You have the kindest heart, and I think that's why we work so well together as friends because we both know I have a huge, giving heart. Everyone feels that Kim Fleming energy whenever they first meet you - and it's the best energy to be shared.

You know me better than anyone else. Sometimes, I think you know me even better than I know my own self. You're able to pick out with each of my moods what it's related to, and you always help me when you know I need it. Even when you were overseas, you made sure to talk to me and help me with my breakup even with a 9 hour time difference. I couldn't be more thankful for that.

We don't talk every day, and when we do talk, we don't talk for hours on end. But when we facetime or when we visit each other, it feels just like it did when we were in high school gossiping in the studio together every day. I love that we don't have to talk constantly to know our friendship remains strong and indestructible.

You have been my rock since we became close our senior year and I have no idea what I would be doing with my life if I didn't have your guidance.

You are so beautiful and I never want you to forget that. Inside and out - you are the most beautiful human being I know. I am blessed and truly honored to be able to call you my best friend. There's no one else in this world that I would ever want as a best friend - only you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
