A Lesson For Man Candy Monday and Woman Crush Wednesday

Anyone who has a Twitter, Instagram, and occasionally Facebook dreads their newsfeeds every Monday and Wednesday because of the abundance of hashtags that say either #MCM or #WCW.

Of course, some are more annoying than others, so in order to save you the trouble of being one of those people who posts a #MCM or #WCW that makes your followers want to rip their eyes out, or better yet yours, run your potential honoree by these categories.

#MCM

Option 1: The old guy friend that you haven’t seen in a while. You miss him, and y’all used to be super close, but for some reason you thought about him today and rather than sending a quick text or calling him, you have chosen to tell your entire list of followers that you are in fact still friends and that you want to see him soon. Because that is totally better than a text message, right?

Option 2: Your BFF, also known as the guy who might as well be one of your girlfriends. You love him to death, and you tell him everything -- even the most intimate details he would probably never choose to hear. In order to show your appreciation for him putting up with you through everything even without being your boyfriend, you decide to broadcast your “forever” friendship through your favorite BFF pic, which of course has the #MCM hashtag as well as a quote or sentence saying how awesome he is.

Option 3: The crush. Y’all either just started seriously “talking” (worst phrase ever) or you want to let him know how cute you think he is, so you think it is a good idea to make him your #MCM… Wrong. Don’t do it, ladies. You will either freak him out because he didn’t feel the same way, or you will make everyone think you are together when it is probably wayyyyy too soon to be admitting that you two are a thing. Just wait until y’all take a cute photo together and then post it with one of the annoying captions of how sweet he is and trust me, the world will be alerted that you’re on your way to no longer being single.

Option 4: The “best boyfriend in the world” photo. Yes, we get it, you think your boyfriend is the best in the world and no other guy compares. Newsflash! Almost every other girl in a relationship feels the same way. No one wants to see photos of y’all kissing once a week or taking precious little love fest photos that will either make every single girl hate you and your relationship or will cause a chain reaction of these same photos from other girls who also believe that they have the “best and sweetest boy on earth.” Honestly, we do not care, and you should just call your boyfriend and tell him you love him and he’s your #MCM, chances are he already knows that and doesn’t need a picture he may not even look at to reassure him.

Option 5: Dream on sweet pea, it’ll never happen, but hot damn -- those abs. We all have those celebrity crushes on the sexy guys that we will more than likely never meet let alone get to actually call “ours.” But they do take amazing photos and are every girls favorite #MCM. Trust me, no girl is going to object if they scroll down their newsfeed and see Chuck Bass, David Beckham or Channing Tatum shirtless. If you want to be sure that your #MCM will not have eyes rolled at it or snarky sighs, then I suggest going with a man that every girl can drool over.

#WCW

Of course, guys are a lot different and usually simpler than girls and #WCW is a prime example of this considering options for the special gal can go one of two ways.

Option 1: She's mine now, back off. If you’re lucky enough to find the girl perfect for you, then it is time to claim your territory. Posting a cute photo of y’all (that she probably took) with the #WCW hashtag lets every other guy know that she is taken, and they need to steer clear or await their black eye. If you’re posting the photo of your girlfriend because she just did something super sweet or you just cannot spend five seconds without telling her and everyone else how much you love her, then dude, you’re probably whipped. There is usually nothing wrong with that, but before you post your photo, make sure you’re not blushing and gushing like a girl- we love being loved, but most of us don’t want a guy more obsessive than us… #nosmothering

Option 2: Could she be wearing less clothing? This is the scantily clad, hair teased, makeup ready, probably either tattooed or large chested, dream girl that you have been stalking on social media and fawning over. Same as with the guys that we girls drool over, these photos will make every other guy that follows you, and maybe some girls, insanely happy and awaiting your next #WCW; but be prepared for less likes/favorites than normal because no girl is going to like this photo unless it is her icon since we hate competition and girls prettier than us, and you guys know that is true. So, before you choose that special person that receives the blessing of being named your #MCM or #WCW for that week, be sure that you re-read which option the star of your photo falls under and please, do not bore us with the photos that we do not care one bit to see.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
