Don't Neglect The 99-Cent Tacos

Not every meal can be steak and rock lobster.

I've wrote a bunch about how our culture has rapidly changed, from when even I was a child (and I was born in 95!). I'm really not trying to sound like some grumpy old man at the park playing chess but, our culture, thanks to different beliefs and tons of innovations and advancements in technology, has made leaps and bounds in many directions that we could have never for saw.

And EVERYONE has their personal opinions/beliefs/etc. of how far we strayed, what we are doing wrong, and the like. I'm no different. But today, with all that I just said, I want to ask you a serious question:

Do you like Jack in the Box Tacos?

I'm very happily married, so please don't misunderstand the example that I'm about to use. If I wasn't married, and I decided to use a dating app (such as Tinder or something), in my bio would be a mandatory agreement that the girl I was looking for HAD to love Tacos from Jack in the Box. Thankfully, I've converted my wife to the true religion of greasy, fast food Tacos from an American-style restaurant?

If you don't know what I'm talking about (I'm weeping for you currently), let me try to explain: 2, brown and greased soaked shells, literally dripping with liquid (I have no idea what...), stuffed with brownish-green lettuce, a SLICE of American cheese, Taco sauce, and meat (If... we can call it that?). Literally, it's like processed, slimy, meat. I'm not lying. And neither is Jack in the Box. They are totally okay with it.

But, you see, maybe that's how we need to be in life? Stay with me please, even those of you who are physically repulsed. People have this sense of having to "put on a face" for other people (the funny thing is most of the people that we have to look good for, we don't even like personally!). We have to look all pristine and pretty. Don't ever show that you are imperfect or aren't put all together. How many of you clean up your house before company comes over? Okay, I totally get that. But some people take it way too far and have to make it look like not a single soul lives there. Do you see what I'm saying?

At times, it's okay to be a 99 cent Taco. Sometimes, it's okay to eat a 99 cent Taco. People can take you or leave you; there doesn't have to be any faking. So, go ahead and let your grease shine for all to see.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
