There are so many things that should make a reappearance in this world, things that my childhood couldn't have gone without...
Let me just start with Blockbuster. I freaking LOVED Blockbuster. Every good movie night simply wasn't complete without a trip to Blockbuster and it was impossible to leave without a ridiculous amount of candy. Now the "Red Box" phenomenon has taken over. Don't get me wrong, Red Box is convenient and it usually has pretty good movies. But there was nothing like a good ol' trip to Blockbuster back in my day.
Another thing that I miss dearly is the old Disney Channel. I spent most of my afternoons after school sitting on the couch and binge watching Sweet Life of Zack and Cody, That's So Raven, Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, and I could go on. Nickelodeon was also up there with my top fave shows such as Rugrats, Ed, Ed and Eddy, iCarly, The Amanda Show, Ned's Declassified, and my absolute FAVORITE, Drake and Josh. The new shows that air now-a-days just don't do us 90's kids justice.
One word. WEBKINZ. These things were way too over priced but I would beg and beg and beg my mom for "just one more." I had a ridiculous amount of Webkinz and I loved them all so much. The house I made for them online was so cool and had so much hard work put into it. It makes me tear up a little bit wondering at what point I decided to say "okay, this is it. This is the last time I'm playing with my Webkinz." Because you know what? I really miss those little addictive furry animals.
I feel like all I ever did in school or at recess was pass notes to my friends (because texting was definitely not a thing then, and if it was, it was done on a little Razor flip phone), make cootie catchers and play MASH. My cootie catcher making skills have gotten rusty but I don't think MASH will ever get old.Although technology then wasn't what it is now, I sure had fun playing on my GameBoy, Nintendo DS and Tamagotchi. Those were the days. I read Goosebumps, Magic Tree House and Junie B. Jones like it was my job!
Let's not forget about everyones rockin' style. I always flaunted my gauchos and Limited Too clothes with some crimped hair. Slap bracelets were a cute way to dress up any outfit and all the boys thought it was a good idea to get frosted tips (LOL). Thank god for us all for gaining a little more fashion sense throughout the years.
Let's all take a moment of silence to remember all of our awesome childhood memories and how badly we still wish some of these things were around. I may or may not have hopped on Club Penguin again just to "check it out" after reminiscing in all of my old favorite things as a kid. I hope after reading this, you too, will go watch a Goosebumps movie snuggled up to your old favorite Beanie Baby.
