Most of us can attest to the fact that although it may seem like it, we don't have our lives together. However, until you do get everything together, here are some ways you can pretend like you do.

1. Dress well

You'd be surprised how many people will believe that you have your life together if you dress well. You don't have to do it every day, but at least a couple times a week should do the trick. Plus, it will give you extra confidence until you do get it together.

2. Wear athletic clothes

Dressing up is a good way to show that you're confident, put effort into your day and know how to take care of yourself, but sometimes you'll need to change it up. Wearing athletic clothes gives the impression that you work out, even if you don't. No one will know that you barely ever move faster than a 0.5 MPH walking pace if you wear activewear. And who knows? Maybe it'll inspire you to get more physically fit and they're extremely comfortable.

3. Eat healthy food

You don't have to do this all the time but do it enough to make it seem like you're super healthy and know all about nutrition. I hear "quinoa" and "green juice" more than "hello" and "bye" these days.

4. Post/tweet deep quotes

This will show that you're a deep thinker and care about literature, cinema, music and other forms of artistic expressions. You might not even know what you posted and heard someone else talk about it, but at least, you'll be inspirational for a few minutes.

5. Take pictures with art

We all know you don't know much about the 20th-century painting you're standing in front of in your Instagram picture, but it's good when you do look cultured.

6. Learn to cook/bake maybe two or three things really well

There's nothing like homemade food, even if you only know how to make the simplest recipes. Making your own food means you're one step closer to being a real adult. Don't be afraid to post pictures of your creations to show people what you're doing.

7. Learn a couple of sentences in a different language

Even though you're probably only bilingual at best, knowing a couple of sentences in another language will make people think you are aware of other cultures and have a well-rounded education. Besides, everything sounds fancier when it's said in another language.

8. Put a plant in your room

Plants help brighten up a room and will help make it look like you know something about biology and botany, even if you don't really know anything other than "the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell." Try your best to keep it alive, though.

9. Get a book and place it next to your bed

You still have that copy of "To Kill a Mockingbird" from high school, so might as well use it for a good cause.

Chances are most people around you are also clueless as to what they're doing or where they will go in life. We all have bad days and feel uncomfortable about our current position. The best thing is to "fake it till you make it." Take a deep breath and remember that you're not alone on the journey to self-discovery.

“You must be the person you have never had the courage to be. Gradually, you will discover that you are that person, but until you can see this clearly, you must pretend and invent.”
― Paulo Coelho

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
