9 Things You'll Remember If You Grew Up In The 2000's

The 90's were cool, but so were the 2000's.

If you just missed the opportunity of describing yourself as the internet famous tag line "90's kid" by a couple of years, or were like me and was born in the 90's but grew up the the 2000's, the following things will probably ring a bell and maybe even ensue nostalgia.

1. Webkinz

Owning a Webkinz in the 2000's was what made you a cool kid. If you ever owned one of your own plush pets, you probably remember the squeaky noise that they made when you logged online to feed, dress and take care of the virtual animal version of your snuggly stuffed animal.

2. Silly Bandz

Colorful rubber bands that keep their form after stretching? Yes, these fun little pieces of flexible rubber were super cool in the 2000's. They came in different themed packages - anything from the holiday pack to different sports packs. You could find these all over the arms of your fellow schoolmates in the hall and probably traded with them too.

3. The Parent Trap

Even though The Parent Trap with Lindsey Lohan was released in 1998, the popularity of the movie persisted into the 2000's. Everything about this movie is memorable. Highlights? The handshake, the twin's pranks and the love story. This story was a staple sleepover movie in the 2000's (and maybe still is today).

4. CD rom games

Anyone remember Freddi Fish? This CD rom game was one of the highlights of my childhood - and many others' who grew up in the 2000's. Kids these days probably don't even know what a CD rom is, nonetheless the epicness of playing one of the classics.

5. Razor cell phones

The coolest cell phones there ever were - the Motorola Razor. Pink, red, navy, these phones were super cool, equipped with T9 texting and neat ringtones. Not to mention when you finished sending a quick text to your bff you could snap it shut to let everyone know that you, yes you, own a hot pink Razor.

6. Razor Scooters

The other cool Razor of the time, Razor Scooters. These hot rod rides were (and still are) the bees knees. Perhaps referred to as "ankle wackers," Razor Scooters were invented in 1999 but became popular when Dan Green landed the first Backflip ever while riding one. Ever since then, these rides have been a neighborhood classic.

7. Nintendo DS

A spin off of the Nintendo Gameboy, in 2004 the Nintendo DS went on sale and rocked kids' lives in the 2000's. The interactive handheld device let you play games through two screens, a touch pad and a microphone. So cool.

8. Kidz Bop

Kidz Bop is basically the epitome of the 2000's. Debuting in 2001, the popular albums present kids who sing popular songs (current of the time when each album is released). As of date, Kidz Bop 31 is the most recent album, and Kidz Bop 32 is planning on being released July 15, 2016.

9. Heelys

Heelys were released in 1999 but were rocked throughout the 2000's. Kids would wear these throughout the school hallways - and what made them super sweet is the versatility of the shoe. Indoors, you can walk. Outdoors, roll away. Or if you wanted to be a rebel, roll indoors.

Often these awesome perks of 2000's are overlooked. Yeah, the 90's were memorable and all, but the 2000's deserve more credit than they get. The 2000's were the bomb.com.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
