College is the biggest step in your life that sets you on the path toward your bright and shiny future. You finally have moved out and you are ready to become the responsible and independent adult you have dreamed of being! After a few months, however, you start to figure out you are missing something. You just can't seem to put your finger on exactly what it is until it hits you all at once. You miss home... and everything that comes with being there. But don't fret, you confused independent individual! It's normal. I'm sure most of you can agree with these nine things that send you and your nostalgic feelings down memory lane.
1. Free food
While eating out for every meal was great at first, you start to find yourself longing for that nice, warm, home-cooked meal… and so does your wallet.
2. Working Wifi
Wifi connections on campus have opened up a whole new set of serious trust issues.
3. Your pets
Lying in bed watching Netflix just isn’t the same without your furry companion to keep you company.
4. Your bed
Waking up every morning with a crick in your neck and a spring in your back causes some serious separation anxiety from your luxurious bed back home.
5. Your siblings’ wardrobe
Opening the closet just isn’t as fun anymore when it is just your plain and boring clothes to choose from everyday.
6. Your best friend
No matter how many amazing people you meet in college, you still always find yourself wishing your other half was there experiencing it with you.
7. Getting enough hours of sleep
You long for the days of having a set bedtime. Especially when you realize you’ve been studying for seven hours straight and its four o'clock in the morning.
8. Adolescent feelings
You miss being a kid. Growing up was all you dreamed of as a kid and you now realize that it’s a lot harder that it seems. You wish your biggest problem of the day was deciding whether you want nuggets or mac and cheese for lunch.
9. Your family
And of course, you miss the people you have spent every day with for the past 18 years. Though being on your own for the first time is fun and exciting, you always know that, no matter what, you always have these people behind you to encourage you, support you and welcome you back home with open arms.
