Because sometimes unfamiliar and new things are pretty scary.

So you've reached your first day of college exactly. Points of view from different people tell us that some say their favorite and easiest year of college was freshman year, meanwhile others say the opposite. Although there are probably hundreds of expectations for your freshman year, here are just nine.

1. Adventures. Your freshman year is just one giant one.

Like the kids from "Willy Wonka" walking into the factory for the first time, college will be a new and exciting experience. It's a whole new world to the majority of incoming freshman.

2. Fraternities and sororities are not even close to what they are like in the movie "Neighbors."

If you're considering joining Greek life, awesome! Just remember it is not really like what the media portrays. There are no parties so big that property is completely demolished or destroyed. Also, hazing is illegal, so don't worry about being branded with your sororities or fraternity's Greek symbols.

3. If you live on campus you'll be assigned at least one "bad" roommate.

While this isn't the end of the world, it can feel like it's the start of it. If you share a room with two or more roomies don't be surprised to find out you can't stand one of them. But of course, be civil and respectful, otherwise, it could lead to more trouble.

4. More times than not, you won't have homework every day.

In my first semester of college, I never had homework for the same class every day. I remember having one math homework every week, and sometimes homework for several classes would overlap. Generally, teachers get that you have other classes and try to keep your out-of-school workload to the bare possible minimum.

5. Yes, you have liberty, but don't go crazy — Just follow the rules.

Most students who start college are above the age of 18. Naturally when we turn 18, we think we have all the freedom in the world. We don't...not even close. Every college and dorm have rules and regulations they expect you to follow. Breaking those rules and regulations can and may result in academic probation and even suspension from the school.

6. There is not even HALF as much drama as there was in high school.

Remember how there was the drama about almost everything in high school? Everyone was so dramatic. Well luckily for you, college has very little, if any, at all. There's probably more drama about the cafeteria food than people.

7. Your entire life you've waited to be treated like an adult, now you will be.

So earlier I said that when someone turns 18 they think they have all the freedom in the world. Well, guess what, you also have all the adult responsibilities too! Yay!

8. Sacrificing class. You might miss one class to study for another class because you have a test.

I'm not telling you to skip class to study for another because I know you will do it at least once. That test is kinda more important than that ink blot group activity in Psychology class.

9. You're gonna make some bad memories, and you'll make some good ones. Cherish them, or the good ones at least.

With all the responsibilities and freedom of college comes memories too. Don't miss out of that one midnight run to McDonald's with your friends because it is the small things in life that make the biggest and best memories for forever.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
