As excited that you may be to go back to school, you forget about the little things that you take for granted when you are home.
1. The Home-Cooked Meals
Don’t even argue with me—dining hall food is crap compared to your mom or dad’s cooking. There’s nothing more disappointing than walking into that dining hall with your *squad* and eating food that may or may not be a hamburger.
2. Your Bedroom at Home
Specifically, your bed. The mattresses that the school supplies for you feel like plastic and creak every time you move a limb. You would think that they would be of slightly higher quality considering how much you are paying to go to this school.
3. Showering Without Shoes On
Communal bathrooms are probably the most disgusting things to ever exist. Sharing a bathroom with over twenty other girls is no fun. Between an endless amount of hairballs in the shower, and people who are incapable of cleaning up after themselves, you miss the privacy of your own bathroom.
4. Your Shower Itself
Showering in a small box with water pressure equivalent to a few raindrops makes the whole process of keeping up with personal hygiene much more difficult than it needs to be. Of course, you still shower everyday (let's hope) but it takes much longer than it should.
5. Having a Pet
For those of you who have beloved animals at home, we all know that pets are a million times better than dealing with other people. It's very sad when I am laying in my bed at night wishing that my dog was laying at my feet to keep them warm. My pet fish sitting on my desk in my dorm unfortunately cannot fill in the empty hole in my heart for missing my dog every single day (Sorry Phish).
6. Driving
Walking twenty minutes to class in freezing weather stinks and you realize that you have taken your car for granted over your winter break.
7. Your Friends at Home
Most people have some of their closest pals at home and you wish that you can easily hang with them whenever you want. Unfortunately, there's a two-hour drive keeping you guys apart.
8. The Laundry Process
Whether you do your laundry yourself or have a parent do it for you, doing laundry in college is such a struggle. It truly stinks when you have no underwear left and need to do laundry but there are no machines open because your school thought that it would be a phenomenal idea to provide four machines for about one hundred kids in a building.
9. Your Family
Although sometimes they get on your nerves, everyone misses their family's crazy antics when at school.
