As the Thanksgiving holiday is quickly approaching, everyone is gearing up and getting ready to travel home for a couple days and go up a few pant sizes. This holiday is all about being thankful for what you have, and really humbles you when you think about what you actually DO have. So here is what I am thankful for.
1. I am thankful for my serving job that also came with a second family.
It's hard being a server. People come in hangry, scream at you, and then don't tip, but when you work at a place like mine, even if you're tired, even if you're upset, you will always feel loved. So Logan's family, I am so thankful for all of you. You help to bring the sunshine out on my darkest days there.
2. I am thankful for my small southern hometown that taught me how to live the right way.
People always complain about their hometown being small, and I have to admit, I am one of those people. There's just something about moving away that makes you just miss everything you swore you hated when you lived there. I'm thankful for the way I was raised, and so thankful for that itty bitty hole in the wall town.
3. I am thankful for my family.
Even though I am constantly being nagged by my mother and my twin sister, annoyed by my father, and worried about by everyone else, I love my crazy family. I'm a ticking time bomb that no one ever knows when it's gonna go off or what I'm gonna do next, but they all support my decisions no matter what and I couldn't be more thankful for them.
4. I am thankful for my true friends that brought me out of my dark place.
You girls and guys know who you are, and you get the biggest thanks of all. Thank you for the sleepovers, the late nights laughing even though we have work the next day, the road trips, the circles, just everything. You all have brightened up my life drastically and I couldn't be more thankful for you.
5. I am thankful for my dog.
If you know me you know that besides my Pepa, my dog is the most important boy in my life. He stays mad when I leave him, but loves me unconditionally when I return. I'm thankful for his never ending love that always keeps me going.
6. I am thankful for the hard times I've gone through this year.
2016 has been a rough year. It's been full of break ups, make ups, friendship losses, and friendship gains, but every bad day has taught me how to find the silver lining in just about any bad situation. I'm thankful for every struggle God has put in front of me because I have learned so much in such a short amount of time.
7. I am thankful for the heartbreaks.
Once again, 2016 has been rough. It seems as if love isn't in the cards for me, but I also know that God is writing my love story and taking his time to make it extra spacial so I'm okay with that. I'm thankful for every boy who took my heart and threw it in the dirt and taught me a lesson. You boys keep doing you because us girls are just out here getting stronger.
8. I am thankful for every good thing that has happened to me this year.
Even though the number of bad times outweighed the good this year, the good still overcame them all. I can't even begin to describe the amount of happiness I've had that helped me forget everything bad that happened the day, the week, or the month before. With every curse, there was a blessing with 2016. Some came later than others and some took longer to understand, but all in all they were amazing.
9. I am thankful for this life I'm living.
It's a wild roller coaster full of ups and downs, but I wouldn't have it any other way. My life is absolutely amazing and filled with so much love and so many amazing friendships and families that I couldn't possibly want or need anything else. I have been so blessed with so many different things that I couldn't be more humbled. God has done amazing things in my life here lately and I can definitely feel a big change coming, but I'm ready for whatever else God has in store for me.
There are so many other things I'm thankful for, but if I kept going I'd be writing until Thanksgiving was over. Take some time out from your holiday and just remember what you're thankful for while you're stuffing your face with turkey and dressing.
