Who's your ideal bae?

What is your "type?" Is it the girl who is everyone’s Tumblr wet dream, the guy whose entire wardrobe is Urban Outfitters, or the antithesis of both? I took the time to sit down and talk to nine men, or almost 'men,' about their perfect mates. This is what they had to say:

*The following names are changed to preserve the identity of the interviewees*

Tim, 19: My ideal type of girl is intelligent and funny above all. She loves Star Wars and movies and lazy days, but she’s always open to a day of walking around the city or a park. Most importantly is that she accepts me for who I am.

John, 19: In a mate, I seek their potential to live their life as an independent soul capable of overcoming hard obstacles alone, as well as being able to note their own wrongs and praise their abilities. As a partner, the stigma of being codependent in itself is a poison that ruins and manipulates the genuine nature of flow with lovers. If you’re my sought out mate, be able to respect my ability to live without you, but also note that you will become part of a life that holds inevitability as a way of life. You will be tested, you will be loved, you will be corrected, you will be shown, and you will be respected. All I ask is the same in return.

Warren, 19: Longish hair (from shoulder length or more), a pretty face with good eyes (eye color doesn’t matter). I don’t think I care if they’re taller than me, but I think I’m more comfortable with a shorter girl. And a compatible personality.

Jamal, 21: My type of guy is someone who’s selfless, caring, genuine, and passionate. Also, he has to have a great smile and a good sense of fashion because momma can’t be with someone who can’t dress themselves!

Sean, 16: Okay so I like a girl with a fat booty and a nice personality… also brown or blonde hair.

Kendall, 23: My perfect girl would have a pretty face and be in shape, preferably an athlete. Someone who enjoys spending time with me but also enjoys alone time. Someone who has the same sense of humor and taste in music, and who would rather go on an adventure than spend a night getting wasted in a bar.

Gabe, 19: I don’t have a specific type, I prefer any girl that I can vibe with in any way possible.

Moe, 19: My “type” is a girl with a great personality that is also attractive. I like girls that are kind to the people around them, especially their family and friends.

Jermaine, 24: Intelligent, ambitious, and good in bed.

In all, I am happy to say that the men I know are generally respectful towards men, women, and the likes. Their descriptions of their dream bae either made my heart swoon or brought about signs of heartburn. While it seems that everyone doesn’t have a “type,” most people crave the babe they can vibe with.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
