Fitbits are all the craze nowadays. Not only do they help you stay on top of your fitness, but they track your calories, sleep cycles, and even your heart rate (so, no, it is not just a pedometer). Any Fitbit fanatic loves a good Workweek Hustle; however, we all know this challenge mean much more to our pride than just some simple motivation to get moving more. It gets super competitive, and we all feel the same things throughout the whole experience. Here are the stages we go through as we work our way through the challenge.
1. Confidence
It's the night before the challenge begins. You're rested up and ready for a week filled with taking the longest possible routes while walking places. You're on a high, ready to crush the competition.
2. Regret
It's Monday morning, you're tired, and there's nothing you'd rather do than take that free shuttle from the train station to work. But it's a mile walk. Think of the steps you can squeeze in. Ugh.
3. Fear
You check the Fitbit app late Monday afternoon, and you're in the lead! No more regret for that morning walk! But then, fear sets in as you realize that you're biggest competition, the one who wins every week, hasn't synced in five hours. Oh no.
4. Astonishment
The M.I.A. friend finally syncs with the app. What on earth did she do to get 17,938 steps in one day? Your measly 10,000 looks childish. Nothing makes sense.
5. Competitiveness
You text in the group chat on the app. "Just wait, guys, I'll have you all beat."
6. Frantic Walking
You find yourself walking in circles as you watch TV. You get each item individually from the refrigerator so you have to walk back and forth several times. You. Won't. Lose.
7. Accomplishment
It's Friday night, and you're headed to bed early. You check the app, see that you're way ahead, and call it a night. Later, friends. The taste of victory is just too sweet.
8. Shock
You wake up on Saturday morning, refreshed and ready for a relaxed weekend. Victory is still in the air. But then, you check your phone and realize that that one friend, the one who always wins, slipped into first in the last hour of Friday night.
9. Readiness
You let the sting of the loss creep away. You're ready to do it all again next week.
