"Everybody knows that a turkey and some mistletoe will help to make the season bright" just like everybody knows that Christmas is the best holiday. The nativity, Santa, reindeer, elves, presents, decorations, peppermint, gingerbread, lights, hot chocolate, 25 Days of Christmas - these are some of the best things in life for those of us who have been accused of having a Christmas obsession. Whether you know you're obsessed and embrace it or you're still not sure, being a Christmas lover is something to be proud of.
1. You start playing Christmas Music early
If you had been with me on Halloween night, you would've heard me start signing "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" the second the clock changed over to midnight on November first. No time is too early because there is no such thing as Thanksgiving music and, hey, this opportunity only comes once a year - you have to make it last.
2. You have multiple Christmas shirts
No December outfit is complete without a tacky sweater, a festive shirt, or some Christmas themed pants. Santa hats, reindeer ears, and lights as a necklace are staple accessories. You've most likely got enough Christmas attire to last two weeks.
3. The highlight of your Thanksgiving is putting up the tree
Putting up Christmas trees is basically the best thing ever. Nothing can quite top hanging all of those ornaments up while blasting the festive music. Odds are, you've got more than one tree - maybe even trees in the double digits!
4. You still go see Santa at the mall
Santa is a big deal. And, hey, you know him.
5. You have Christmas movies on DVD
Not only do Christmas Crazies have tons of Christmas DVDs, we also tend to be able to quote lines from most of them. There is no shame in memorizing the entire 25 Days of Christmas lineup. Home Alone, Elf, A Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, and the Hallmark Channel in general are among only a few of your favorites.
6. You have accused people of being Scrooge or the Grinch
You'll never be able to understand people who hate Christmas. You get tired of being questioned on your love for the holiday by them. Even the two most iconic Christmas-hating characters ever come around to the idea in the end. So really, by calling them "Scrooge" and "Grinch," you're just saying that they'll come to love Christmas eventually.
7. You have multiple favorite Christmas decorations and traditions
You've got tons of ornaments, trees, nutcrackers, snowglobes, and other festive stuff. You probably do a million and one different things every holiday season. These things are like children - you can't pick a favorite!
8. You start planning what you're getting people early
The perfect gift is super important; as Head Christmas Elf, the pressure is on to do better than even Santa for your loved ones. September is prime time to start thinking about what to get people for you. Let's be real about it, you've probably been counting down since July anyway.
9. You know where all the best local light shows are
And you go to all of them multiple times every year because you know that Christmas lights will never lose their magic.
You know that Christmas is the very best holiday because Halloween is fun and Thanksgiving is nice, but nothing will ever beat the best holiday of the year. Merry Christmas, friends!
