Seven weeks. Seven weeks spent on this great campus I call home. I couldn’t enjoy the moments spent here more during these first few weeks of my senior year, but at the start of the seventh week, I'm embarrassed to say that I was ready to go home. Trust me, I love my home away from home, but fall break provides the perfect time to relax and recharge so that I'm a full human again. Here are some of the things I took the most advantage of over fall break told by the characters of my favorite cartoon: "As Told by Ginger."
1. Taking long hot showers (because I can): There is nothing like running up my parents’ water bill while enjoying a hot shower with no shower shoes on. Fall break meant taking showers in my own bathroom, so the longer the better!
2. Sleeping: I am the ultimate procrastinator; ask any of my roommates. The downfall to mastering the art of procrastination means pulling many all-nighters. During fall break, I could finally drown in sleep.
3. Eating a home cooked meal: It’s been a long time since I last had my mom’s cooking. It was refreshing to get away from Eick and stuff my belly with a full course meal every single night. I easily gained five pounds over the break but every bite was worth it! Thanks mom for keeping me fat and full.
4. Going out with my best friend: I love my friends from college but by this time in the semester I start to miss my best friend from home. It's always nice to get dressed up and hit the local bars together for the first time in a long time!
5. Doing nothing with my best friend: As much as I love going out, I was exhausted going into fall break. The best thing about my best friend is we could be doing nothing and still have a good time. As boring as it may sound, I enjoyed the time I spent with my best friend doing absolutely nothing.
6. Hanging out with my mom: It’s been some time since I’ve seen her too and I missed my momma. Any time with her is a good time. I just wish I took her up on her offer to go shopping.
7. Catching up on TV shows: Midterms means no time for TV, and missing "How To Get Away with Murder" was torture. So you can best believe I binge watched all of my favorite shows.
8. Enjoying the outdoors: I finally had time to walk around and smell the roses, well actually, the crisp fall air which is even better. I had time to spend outside and enjoy my favorite season without having to stress out about assignments and class.
9. Giving myself facials: I am all about pampering myself but during the school year I can’t find the time to just enjoy a facial. During fall break, I gave myself facials until my face dried out.
