I don’t want to brag, but my city is the best!!
If you don’t live here, or you haven’t considered living here, I strongly suggest you do! You’d be crazy not to like it here, in The ‘Cuse.
1. We’ve got the Dome (And Dome Dogs!!)
Yeah, maybe you’ve seen it on TV, but we’re the ones who’ve got the tickets to all the games and events, and we flood the Dome with orange and blue attire. (Also, not to mention the delicious $2 Dome Dogs!)
2. We WORSHIP Wegman's
Let’s face it, if you need to go food shopping, you’re going to Wegman's. There are more than 8 stores throughout the City, and they’re all clean, fresh, and full of great deals. You couldn’t even try to argue with me that Wegman's isn’t the best “Lunch Date” venue there is, and that with out their subs, bulk candy aisle, and bite-size chocolate chip cookies, our childhoods would’ve been a joke.
3. The Fair of all Fairs – The Great NYS Fair
The majority of us are less than a 25 minutes’ drive from the fairgrounds. Late August and early September is a time for all ages to come soak in the hot, summer sun, and spend days upon days at the fairgrounds. From the free concerts at Chevy Court, to the 25 cent cups of ice cold white or chocolate milk, this place has something for everyone! We all know that our summers aren’t complete without spending sometime walking the hot, sweaty, crazy busy NYS fair.
4. Beautiful Outdoor Places to spend a Sunday Afternoon
From the Onondaga Creek Walk downtown Syracuse, to the beautiful Green Lakes State Park, there is always a trail to run or a path to walk. With the seasons that we experience in Syracuse, there isn’t one single time of the year that you could be disappointed in the amazing views you’ll take in.
5. Believe in Destiny....USA
If you ever need somewhere to go explore on a rainy day, Syracuse has got you covered! The mall is the best place to go if you want to spend some time shopping, eating, or even climbing a ropes course!! It’s the sixth largest shopping center in the nation, and the largest in the state of New York.
6. Pizza, Pizza, Pizza!
Whether it was Twin Trees, Pavone’s, Varsity, Budgie’s, Mario and Salvo’s, or Robbie T’s, you always have a number to call. The hardest part is making the decision of who to order from!
7. Everyone knows Everyone
Wherever you are, whether it’s Target or at the intersection of a busy street, you’re bound to see someone you grew up with! The amount of people you see out on a measly 10-minute grocery run will make you love living in this friendly city.
8. It’s always a White Christmas (and Easter)
We get hit, and it’s usually pretty hard. It’s safe to say that we all own at least one North Face jacket, a drawer full of gloves, and endless shelves of winter boots. We are fearless drivers at this point, we have the bravery and skill to drive an automobile through the Arctic Tundra. (Oh yeah, and the snow NEVER goes away..)
9. The Best Food You’ll Ever Eat
Pastabilities, Dinosaur BBQ, The Brooklyn Pickle, Mario and Salvos, Robbie T’s, Eggplant, Ruston’s, Varsity Pizza, Insomnia, King David’s, Strong Hearts Café, Alto Cinco, Angotti’s, Asti’s, Stella’s Diner, Funk’n Waffles, Gannon’s, Lemon Grass, Copper Top Tavern, Delmonico’s, A La Mode, Tully’s, Misu, Kitty Hoynes, Trappers, WHAT ELSE COULD ONE ASK FOR????
