Whether you are going back to college, high school, middle school or whatever, going back to an education after the summer can actually be really fun and enjoyable if you look at it a certain way. These are just nine of the different reasons that you should be hype to get up on the August or September morning with a smile on your face.

1. New School Supplies

The idea of having fresh new pens or pencils is a great way to get excited for your first day of school. It is always great to have that feeling of a brand new start and having fresh notebooks or newly sharpened pencils helps with that. Also it gives you a chance to be able to buy new stationary items that you may have not had the chance to snag last year, like a good deal on a pack of colorful notecards or that cute eraser that looks like a puppy. New school supplies, no matter what kind, can be a great way to kick off the new year and make you pretty eager to start your first class of the fall.

2. New Wardrobe (or at least a new outfit)

New back-to-school clothes are almost a tradition for a new school year. You may want to celebrate your impending travels back to lockers and school lunches with a few new shirts and pants and even some new shoes. Even if you can not afford more than one of these types of outfits, having at least a first day of school outfit filled with at least one new item can potentially turn your first day into a fabulous one and make you happy to be back in class.

3. Make New Friends

A new school year gives you the opportunity to meet new people. Sometime students you will meet in new clubs or classes, or sometimes new transfer students will become new friends. Building up your friends list can be great not only as a way to make going to school more enjoyable, but also make the year or years to come enjoyable as well because you may have just found some potential life long friends. These new connections can make your first day even more worth going to.

4. But Keep The Old

Besides new students, being able to see your old friends every day is a great reason to be excited for school. While you may not have every class with them, being able to see friends that you may not have been able to see as much this summer or just having the chance to see your best friends that you may have hung out with all summer, at least five out of seven days of the weeks is a great reward and reason to be excited for going back to school.

5. Fresh Learning Material

Having the opportunity to learn new information potentially about subjects you like or reading a classic book that has been on your "to read" list forever, is just a few of the amazing and entertaining assignments and education you may be given with a new school year. Maybe only seniors get to take a trip to your local museum or maybe this year will be the year you can take AP American Literature with one of your favorite teachers. Whatever the new lessons may be, know that something can peak your interest and possibly change your life, which makes having new learning material definitely a reason to get happy about being back to school.

6. New Teachers

Having new instructors is a great reason to be thrilled to go back to class as teachers can be some of the greatest influences we have in school and even sometimes in life. Maybe you have a favorite teacher this year that you cannot wait to get again or finally teaches a class you love. Or maybe you will be introduced to a great teacher who could change the way you see the world. Regardless of the case, having the opportunity to meet new professors, teachers, TA's, etc. can be a great way to learn new information and find inspiration that you can possibly carry with your throughout your entire life. And of course, a great reason to be thrilled at the thought of walking into your new classes that first day.

7. Clean Slate

A new year usually means fresh grades and records. So while maybe you did not get that A you wanted in math last year or maybe had one too many absences from school. A new school year is the perfect time to start over. Make a fresh start and try to reach your goals for the year. Whether it be getting a speaking part in the school play or passing all of your English tests, having that new start means new opportunities to grow, learn, and make your self a better person. Which can not only be a reason to be excited for first day of school, but for the entire year as well.

8. Clubs, Trips and More

Being back at school can mean you not only go back to your old recreational activities from prior years, but also get the opportunity to join new clubs and activities. Some schools have trips that only certain grades or clubs can attend, which could give you the chance at new experiences. Other times schools have new clubs each year that kids can try out. Whether you are playing baseball at school for the 10th year in a row or maybe thinking of trying to join choir or robotics club, a new school year and even first day are great reasons to start and be delighted to get to practice or a meeting right after the last bell or during free period.

9. Brand New You

Whether you want to have a clean slate and set some new goals or the opportunity to have a fresh start at a new school or a new year, going back to school for a new year can help tremendously with that. Setting goals for yourself for the year that involve items like working harder at a class your struggle in or maybe leaving your comfort zone to join a new sport or try to join a new club, can be the perfect reason to be excited to be heading back to school and for that first day of class.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
