Unpopular opinion: I’m not a fan of summer break. I know, I know, that’s crazy. How could I not love summer? It’s the best. But is it really? Sure, a whole host of things you do outside become considerably more enjoyable as the weather gets warmer, but I’m of the opinion that that’s all summer has going for it. For those of you I haven’t already lost with this idea, let me explain.
1. There’s nothing good on TV.
And anything decent that plays in the summer is over before halfway through July.
2. It’s hot all the time.
If you don’t enjoy wearing dresses or shorts, you’re about to spend three months melting if you even think about going outside.
3. Everyone judges the person still wearing jeans.
They’re going to hate themselves later.
3. There’s never really a good time to go outside.
It’s a never ending cycle of trying not to get sunburned all day and then trying not to be eaten alive by bugs all night.
4. You run out of things to do after the 4th of July.
How many days can I be expected to be okay with just sitting around?
5. Grilling starts to mean the same thing every night really fast.
Hamburgers and hot dogs again?
6. You have to eat everything cold really fast.
Or it, too, will start to melt, like the person over there, slumped against the tree who’s still wearing jeans.
7. Going to the pool is a whole thing if you’re less than 100% comfortable with how you look.
Okay, but do I have to wear a bathing suit?
8. Exercise as an outdoor activity.
9. Women being judged for showing more skin.
Guys can walk around with no shirt and it’s not a problem. I think you can relax about this tank top.
If you can relate, fear not, fall will be here again before you know it.
