9 Reasons I Should Have Been Raised In The South
Harper's Bazaar

It is no secret that things are done a little differently below the Mason Dixon line. Being raised in Ohio, I believe I was born on the wrong side of the dividing line. Here are nine reasons I think I should have been born on the flip side, as a southern belle, if you will.

1. Pearls.

I love the look of pearls but being in Ohio I do not completely believe I can pull them off.

2. Everything is sweeter in the south.

Tea, peaches, men. Everything is sweeter.

3. The culture.

While southern Ohio has a "southern-ish" culture, it is definitely not the same. Southern hospitality is a way of life.

4. Chivalry lives in the south.

There might be some men that still believe in opening a door, but it is actually quite rare. But, this might have something to do with feminism, which I totally agree with parts of.

5. Manners matter too, and for everyone.

Respect and manners are two things not everyone can understand.

6. Sperrys, boots, and pretty sandals are my life.

If I am seen wearing tennis shoes, it was not by choice... and I am probably not happy about it.

7. Sweet tea and lemonade are perfect separate, and also perfect together.

8.Floppy hats were meant for my head.

9. "The bigger the hair, the closer to God."- Steele Magnolia's

I have naturally curly, big hair. God knows I belong in the south, why else would I have this hair?!
