Moving away from your best friend can be a challenge, especially when you’re used to seeing him or her every single day. As you and your best friend reunite over break, consider the positives you both have gained from being apart.

1. You’re forced to branch out because she's not around to be anti-social with.

Who knows if you would’ve joined that club or tried out for that team if you had the security of your best friend by your side at your new school. Today, you still have the love and support from your best friend, along with an amazing new college crew!

2. Catching up over breaks brings you closer.

Even though you guys are mostly up to date on all your semester shenanigans, your best friend is always your first visitor when you get back into town. It’s been way too long and you’re over the video calls.

3. Thanks to social media, your best friend can stay caught up with your college adventures.

In the past, staying in touch with old friends in far away places was nearly impossible. Now that technology has become so advanced, and part of our everyday lives, your best friend can check out your latest photos and updates at any time with the touch of a button.

4. Her college friends become your new friends, too.

Between the crazy stories and cute Instagram posts, you’re basically part of your best friend’s new friend group before even meeting them. If your best friend loves them, you probably will too.

5. You get to experience a different campus when you visit for Spring Break.

It’s always exciting to check out different schools and the unique vibe each one has to offer. After all the hype, you can’t wait to see what your best friend’s new college life is all about!

6. And you’re thrilled to show him or her around your school, too.

You now have so many new favorite restaurants and hangout spots to introduce to your best friend when they finally make the trek to your campus. What better way to escape the books than playing tourist for a weekend with one of your favorite human beings?

7. You’re practically a pro photographer since you Snapchat each other so often.

Not sure if the actual pictures or the GeoTag filters are more exciting, but, either way, you have to capture the perfect shot of every new, exciting, or funny thing you see at school so that your best friend can share the moment with you.

8. A bad day is instantly improved with a phone call.

Failed a test? Broke up with your S/O? Just feeling homesick? No problem. Your best friend still has your back and knows exactly what to say to brighten your day and make you feel better.

9. You appreciate time with your best friend that much more.

If you’ve learned anything from this semester, it’s that no amount of distance, stress or drama can tear apart the relationship you’ve built over the years with your best friend.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
