In the last year, I have done a lot of traveling, and in the next year I have quite a few more trips planned also. Spending so much time in airports and on airplanes, it's hard to not notice a pattern among travelers. These are 9 types of travelers you are sure to come across:
1. The Mom. This does not have to be someone with children. The mom is the person in the group who carries everyone's boarding passes, passports, and other essential items for the trip. You will probably see this person pulling out snacks and other goodies from their bag throughout the flight, that you wish you would have thought to bring.
2. The Sleeper. This person falls asleep as soon as they get to their seat, and stay that way for the remainder of the flight. I know quite a few people nap on planes, but there's always that one person, for me it's generally a guy, that sits down in their seat, puts a hat on, or hood up, closes their eyes, and the opens them to their destination. Most of us are jealous of that skill.
3. The Busy Body. This person brought a million things to do on the plane. You see them go from a coloring book, to a novel, to a tablet with movies on it. You never really know what they are going to pull out next. They really thought of everything to help pass the hours on the plane.
4. The Family. I am sorry to say, this is one of those groups that most people hope not to sit by. While some parents are very mindful of their child's behaviors, there are also a lot of parents who are not. This group may also contain an infant. Try to be patient with them. Yes they know they are annoying, no there really isn't much that can be done to stop the infant from crying, but they are trying their best.
5. The Businessman. This also tends to be a man, in my experience, but I have definitely seen businesswomen as well. This person boards the plane in such an experienced way that you know they have done this a million times. They tend to be wearing a suit, or very dressy clothes, compared to the sweatpants of many other travelers.
6. The Comfy Soul. This person is rocking a sweatshirt, sweats/leggings, tennis shoes (or boots depending on the destination), and no makeup. It is very clear this person's priority is getting to their destination and being as comfortable as possible.
7. The Bookworm. This person pulls out a book as soon as everyone in their row is comfortable, and they only put it down for bathroom breaks, or when the stewardess comes by to bring them something to drink. This person looks completely content the entire flight.
8. The Forgetter. You will see this person using one headphone from someone else, or looking over onto someone else's screen. This person clear forgot to bring something to do on the plane. It is really unfortunate to be this person, but it happens to the best of us. Sometimes, we are just so busy, thinking to bring a book isn't the #1 priority.
9. The Grazer. This is the person who eats the entire time, or it really seems that way. Every time you look over at them, they have something new they are munching on. This is not the person you want to sit next to, especially if you didn't bring any snacks.
There are so many different types of people you will see traveling, and these are just a few. The best part about traveling is seeing all of the different groups of people coming and going to the same places you are. I love seeing someone on both the departing flight, and arrival flight. It is just amazing to see someone who spent the same amount of time in the same area as you, that you didn't run into. It just goes to show that even though it can seem like a small world, there are so many small worlds to explore.
