Listen, I’m not necessarily proud of the fact that I actively watch about 35 TV shows, but I’m not ashamed either; it’s kind of a defining feature of who I am as a human being. That being said, no one should be surprised that when pilot season rolls up every fall, I manage to pick up anywhere between two to 10 new TV shows to watch. This week, I thought I’d watch all the released trailers for the upcoming season and let you know which ones I think are going to be really good. You can be sure that I will be watching all of these, so feel no shame in the fact that you, too, will sit on your couch for hours on end watching the premiere of these glorious new shows.
Here are nine new shows that I am very excited for, listed in alphabetical order.THE CATCH
- Network: ABC
- Premiere Date: TBA
- Notable Cast Members: Mireille Enos
- Notable Crew Members: Jennifer Schuur ("Hannibal"), Shonda Rhimes (Television Drama Extraordinaire)
- You’ll like this if you enjoy: anything by Shonda Rhimes
- Summary: A fraud investigator gets conned by her fiancee and now she’s fighting for revenge.
- Thoughts: The trailer is suspenseful enough to capture my attention, but very similar to all of Shonda’s other works. Don’t get me wrong, just because it seems similar doesn’t mean the quality will decrease. However, I’m hoping that something will be done to establish originality, because at the end of the day, that’s what keeps TV shows on air.

CODE BLACK
- Network: CBS
- Premiere Date: Wednesday, September 30
- Notable Cast Members: Marcia Gay Harden, Luis Guzman
- You’ll like this if you enjoy: medical dramas
- Summary: Angels Memorial Hospital is the busiest emergency room in the USA. So important that there is constantly an empty bed reserved for the President of the United States. “Code Black” is announced when there are more patients than doctors, nurses, and beds.
- Thoughts: I have to admit that I’m a crier. I get very emotionally invested in TV shows and characters, and I frequently cry. However, never have I been moved to tears while watching a trailer for a show that has not yet premiered. This show is going to be special. I’m not much into medicine-related shows, but I’d be willing to bet this is going to be the next big thing after "Grey’s Anatomy."

CONTAINMENT
- Network: CW
- Premiere Date: TBA
- Notable Crew Members: Julie Plec ("The Vampire Diaries," "The Originals")
- If you like one, you’ll like the other: "The Last Ship," apocalyptic dramas
- Summary: When a deadly version of the flu breaks out in Atlanta, a small chunk of the city is quarantined in order to prevent further spread.
- Thoughts: I’m a huge fan of shows and films about the national spread of deadly diseases ("The Last Ship," "World War Z"), but there is something new about this one. It’s literally a flu. People are dying graphic deaths from a mutation of the common, everyday flu. It makes the panic so much more real when it’s something that theoretically could happen in our world. If that doesn’t set a deep-seated fear in the back of your mind, I don’t know what can.

THE FAMILY
- Network: ABC
- Premiere Date: TBA
- Notable Cast Members: Joan Allen, Allison Pill, Zach Gilford, Rupert Graves
- You’ll like this if you enjoy: "Gone Girl." Also, being suspicious of EVERYONE.
- Summary: A politician’s son disappears when she’s running for city council, and reappears just as she’s about to announce her candidacy for governor. Except the DNA says he doesn’t exist? Suspicion and mystery ensues.
- Thoughts: This show looks AMAZING. I have so many questions that I need answered right this instant. Where was the kid living? Why is he so beat up? How were they able to put a man in jail for murder when the kid is still alive? How does a human simply not exist? I NEED TO KNOW. ABC has not yet announced the premiere date, so in the meantime I’ll just sit here patiently, watching the trailer over and over again, hoping to get some answers before the show starts. Don’t mind me.

GRANDFATHERED
- Network: Fox
- Premiere Date: Tuesday, September 29
- Notable Cast Members: John Stamos, Josh Peck
- If you like one, you’ll like the other: "Full House," "Drake & Josh," "Uncle Jesse"
- Summary: A restaurant-owning bachelor meets the son he never knew he had, only to discover that his son has a daughter, making him a grandfather!
- Thoughts: Uncle Jesse is back, only this time he’s Grandpa Jesse! Honestly, I’m always going to be bitter about the fact that I didn’t think of these two as co-stars myself. Deep down, I think I just really want this show to succeed because both John and Josh were such a huge part of my childhood; one of them on "Full House" and the other on "Drake & Josh." Regardless of my personal biases, the father-son dynamic is real and awesome and I can’t wait to see the hilarity that ensues between these two. Thankfully, I don’t have to. John and Josh have already paired up to create some funny vines that really have me looking forward to this show (Exhibits 1, 2, and 3). Also, John Stamos is still fine as hell. #HaveMercy

THE GRINDER
- Network: Fox
- Premiere Date: Tuesday, September 29
- Notable Cast Members: Rob Lowe, Fred Savage
- If you like one, you’ll like the other: legal comedies, family sitcoms
- Summary: A television lawyer moves back to his hometown after his TV show ends and decides to become an actual lawyer, despite his brother’s objections.
- Thoughts: I’ll admit I have a soft spot for legal comedies and Rob Lowe (Chris Traeger!), but this show looks funny and sweet, which is exactly the perfect combination that has been missing from my life since "Parks and Recreation" ended and left a gaping hole in my heart. This trailer contains a hidden gem in the form of Tonita Castro, who is a hilarious and talented actress that has been in short-lived TV shows such as “Dads” and “Go On.” Tonita has always been my favorite part of the aforementioned TV shows, and she appears in this trailer, so I desperately hope that it wasn’t just a cameo and that they give her a steady role. I have no doubt that if she joins the cast, the show will be mad infinitely better.

QUANTICO
- Network: ABC
- Premiere Date: TBA. Sundays this fall.
- Notable Crew Members: Joshua Safran ("Smash"), Mark Gordon ("Saving Private Ryan," "Grey's Anatomy")
- You’ll like this if you enjoy: any TV show related to federal law enforcement
- Summary: A group of hopeful feds arrives at the FBI Academy, also known as Quantico, only to become suspects in the largest terrorist attack since 9/11.
- Thoughts: Yaas, conspiracy theories. Yaas, strong female leads. Yaas, diverse cast. YAAAS TO EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SHOW. I don't think there's anything else I can say, probably because I wouldn't do it much justice. Just, please, do yourself a favor, and watch the trailer.

SCREAM QUEENS
- Network: Fox
- Premiere Date: Tuesday, September 22
- Cast Members: Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michelle, Abigail Breslin, Nasim Pedrad, Keke Palmer, Diego Boneta, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande
- Crew Members: Ryan Murphy ("Glee," "AHS," "The New Normal"), Brad Falchuk ("Glee," "AHS"), Ian Brennan ("Glee")
- If you like one, you’ll like the other: anything by Ryan Murphy
- Summary: A sorority house is plagued by gruesome murders.
- Thoughts: I’m not super into this concept, mostly I’m not a fan of slasher shows in general, but this show is probably going to be a big hit, and I can definitely see the appeal to it. Everything that has Ryan Murphy’s name on it is gold, and I doubt "Scream Queens" will be the exception. The cast is also ridiculously stacked in equal parts talent and beauty. I’ll probably give the first couple of episodes a shot, if only for Nick Jonas and Diego Boneta. <3

SUPERGIRL
- Network: CBS
- Premiere Date: Monday, October 26
- Notable Cast Members: Jeremy Jordan (!!!), Melissa Benoist, Laura Benanti, Peter Facinelli, Mehcad Brooks
- Notable Crew Members: Greg Berlanti ("Dawson’s Creek," "Arrow," "The Flash"), Ali Adler ("Chuck," "Family Guy," "Glee")
- You’ll like this if you enjoy: superheroes and Jeremy Jordan, even though they’re essentially the same thing
- Summary: Explores the life of Supergirl, Superman’s cousin who is also a superhero and just coincidentally happens to be a girl.
- Thoughts: It’s possible this is the show I am most excited for this upcoming fall season. It may be because there hasn’t been a TV show about a female superhero in my lifetime. It could be that the cast includes Jeremy Jordan, Broadway hunk and love of my life. Probably a combination of both. All that being said, I hope there’s more to this show than just what the trailer displays. The writers really get over the whole, “Oh my god, she’s a girl AND a superhero?!” thing quickly. The sooner they stop focusing on her gender and zone in on her skills and bravery, the better. Also, I’m not sure I’m in love with the whole awkward, unconfident, cute persona? Like, I don’t know, but if I were Supergirl, I’d be confident as hell. And I’d date Jeremy Jordan. No one else. Just Jeremy.
