No one wants to pay more than they have to for a broadband package, but many of us do because of the hassle involved. However, you could save hundreds of dollars per year on your internet, phone, and cable bill if you consistently shop around for the best broadband deal.

What to Consider When Choosing a New Broadband Deal

Switching from one provider to another or changing your current package based on price alone isn’t a good idea. You need to consider several factors before making your final decision.

1. Are You a Light or Heavy Broadband User?

Most broadband providers separate their users into “light” and “heavy.” Light users aren’t online a lot and require lower internet speeds, whereas heavy users enjoy streaming, online gaming, and downloading. Families with multiple users and devices also qualify as “heavy users.”

2. How Much Data Will You Need?

The amount of data you’ll need depends on how you use the internet. For example, if you’re using your broadband for browsing and email use, you’ll only need 10GB a month. However, if you watch on-demand TV, download music, and play video games online, purchase unlimited.

3. Do You Want a Broadband and Phone Package?

A bundle deal wraps up your broadband with your televisions and/or home phone. Broadband packages that include a phone are especially valuable for people with home offices who want to separate their business and personal expenses, as it’s unlikely you’ll need a TV for your job.

4. Are you a Student or a Small Business Owner?

Most broadband companies will offer specific packages to students or business owners that aren’t available to the public. Business and student broadband packages are typically much cheaper than other civilian packages and offer specific benefits, like shorter contract lengths.

5. How Will You Connect to the Internet?

Although some packages won’t be available in your area, most UK residents can either connect via ADSL broadband, fiber broadband, cable, satellite, or mobile broadband. If you’re bundling, you may want to opt for ADSL. If not, go for fast speeds from fiber broadband or cable.

6. Can You Get the Same Deal From Your Current Provider?

Switching from your current provider to another, even if you’re being offered an incredible deal, can be more trouble than it’s worth. It’s better to ask your current provider if they can match the deal you found because they may be willing to lower your monthly bill to make you stay.

7. How Long of a Contract do you Want?

Most broadband contracts range between 12 and 24 months. If you decide to cancel early, you’re subject to hefty fees, so don’t buy into a deal if you’re moving soon or planning on adding services to your contract. Make sure you’re happy with your agreement before signing up.

8. Will Your Provider Honor the Deal for the Length of the Contract?

You’ve probably stumbled upon a few broadband deals that look too good to be true, and they probably are. Read the fine print because your broadband provider may up your monthly bill after a certain amount of time, which may cause you to pay more than you can afford.

9. What Broadband Provider Should You Choose?

There are dozens of providers you can sign up for, but leading providers include Virgin Media, BT, and Sky. When looking for a provider, make sure you consider the connection fee and service area. You may not be able to take advantage of certain deals based on your location.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
