9 Feelings You Get When You Go Home For The Weekend

We all love the college life. The procrastination that never ends, late night Cookout binges and constantly having something to do. However, going home for the weekend every now and then is also one of the best feelings. Here are 9 typical feelings of how it feels to take a quick trip back to your hometown for the weekend.

1. When you see your parents, you realize just how much you actually missed them.

Growing up, they may have nagged you every step of the way, but it was all out of tough love, and sometimes you need that tough love.

2. Going home = seeing your dogs.

Dogs never know exactly when you'll come back home, so every time it's a complete surprise to them, and it's completely exciting to you.

3. You finally get to relax without the temptation of doing something else.

At home, you can chill out on the couch, watch a movie and not be as easily tempted to make a quick trip to the store.

4. When you're home, you eat as much as you can, because you want to hit up all of your favorite hometown restaurants before you leave again.

5. Home-cooked meals.

I can cook in my apartment, but it's just not the same. Thanks for the meals, Mom.

6. If you have a sibling, you can't lie, it's exciting to be reunited with them.

No matter how much sibling rivalry you may have had as a child, seeing them for a weekend is one of the best feelings.

7. FOMO becomes too real.

As you relax and sit on your couch, you scroll through Snapchat stories and see all of the fun things your friends are doing back at school, and you start to feel a slight case of FOMO. Your phone buzzes off-the-hook with "what are you doing?" or "come out with me" text messages, and you get plenty of event invites on Facebook, yet you're not even in town.

8. If you're like me, you don't have your car at school, so coming home and driving is one of the most satisfying, freeing feelings.

You can freely drive Downtown and go shopping, make a Taco Bell trip and run errands without being a burden on anyone else. There's also nothing better than driving with the windows down and with your music blasting.

9. There's honestly no other feeling than being back in your childhood home.

The smell, the feeling of family and the memories - nothing is more soothing, and a better way to take a break from your hectic school schedule. It's like an oasis away from the crazy schedule of club meetings, exams and responsibilities.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
