As the semester begins to dwindle down there is a group of people that will start frantically running around campus. These are "The Procrastinators." Throughout our entire lives, we have been told that we need to stop waiting until the last minute but to us procrastination is a way of life and there's no stopping it.
1. "Due tomorrow... Do tomorrow."
This saying pops up all over the place but you don't truly get the vibe from the quote unless this is something you live by every single day. We don't say this jokingly, we actually mean it.
2. Cleaning your room is an absolute must before you start your pile of work.
Your room has been messy for weeks now (because you keep saying, "I'll clean it tomorrow," of course) but it's not until you sit down to actually do your work that you realize just how messy it is. In your mind, cleaning your room first will "help you focus." This takes a few hours because a.) you have procrastinated cleaning your room and b.) the cool stuff you find is endless.
3. We love breaks.
A lot of people do the whole "food" reward system, read a chapter and get a gummy bear kind of thing -- not us. We like to reward ourselves by working for about 10 minutes and then taking a 30 minute (maybe an hour, hour and a half) break because we have actually convinced ourselves that we need it.
4. "I have so much stuff to do."
We LOVE telling people how much stuff we have to do when we're avoiding everything we have to do. In fact, we like to complain about how much work we have so that we can waste time not doing our work.
5. "I need to start exercising more."
There's nothing better than going on a run or telling yourself you have to elliptical for two hours when you have a 10-page paper due the next day.
6. We always have printer problems.
It's 1 a.m. and you finally finish your project that you started after dinner (that was assigned three weeks ago) and is due tomorrow. You think you're all set; you think you're hot stuff for getting away with waiting until the last minute and then bam- "printer error," "no ink," "no printer connection."
7. We send a lot of texts around 11 p.m. asking if we have any homework for our class tomorrow.
We've all done it and then we've all ignored the fact that we have something due and just go to bed anyway.
8. We are very stressed out people.
Could we have avoided this stress altogether? Yeah, most definitely. However, we like to lay in bed or just sit there and think about all of the stuff we have to do and haven't even started yet.
9. We are the first ones to admit that we are "The Procrastinators."
We say this with pride. Which is sad but at least we embrace it.
P.S. -- I waited last minute to write this article, enjoy.
