Hear me roar.

The leo, born between July 23 and August 22nd (appropriately so considering those are some of the most sweltering weeks of the year), is easy to write off as a spotlight-loving self-obsessed hothead who has no regard for anyone except herself. However, don't be so quick to pigeon-hole your local lioness. We aren't just the queens of Pride Rock simply because we're proud. Here are a few of the many fabulous qualities of this fiery femme-fatale that you're probably overlooking.

1. We are stubborn but it's usually when we love something-- a lot. And if that something is you, you're extremely lucky because you have just gained yourself a free attorney.

2. We feel things deeper, but it makes our lives more colorful. Better to feel everything rather than nothing, right?

3. We love ourselves, but that doesn't mean we don't love you! We fall harder because anyone who can distract us enough to disrupt our precious beauty sleep is someone worth falling for (we're also very picky, so feel special).

4. We're really not that easily pissed off. Generally, Leos are pretty level-headed when it comes to arguments and conflict, we just get really frustrated when people don't like us and that creates a very large communication gap.

5. We walk the fine line between confidence and narcissism, and when we cross over into the latter, we will be the first to admit it because we're proud to be narcissists...because we are narcissists...

6. We love our comfy clothes and messy buns BUT if need be, we clean up like no other.

7. We love adventures. We can get easily bored with the mundane so we're always looking for something to spice up our lives, which means you'll never be bored around a Leo.

8. We are awesome friends. We're not scared to tell the b---- who stole your boyfriend where and how far she can shove it (but we'll do it much more passively than I just described because again, we hate when people don't like us).

9. We are just a super amplified version of most of the other star signs. We think a lot, we talk a lot, we smile a lot, we cry a lot, we care a lot.

So say what you want about us lady lions. We recognize our flaws and love ourselves all the same. We love roaring our own praises and that probably won't ever change.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
