A lot of people are encouraged to get a part-time job at some point in their life, and if it's in high school or in college, the likelihood of it being in the food industry is very high. Whether it's a cook, server, cashier or a line worker, all of it is pretty much the typical, minimum wage, college-like job. Although we should be lucky we have jobs to earn us a little extra money, there are many annoyances that happen on a daily basis.
1. When people come in five minutes before close.
Your just minding your own business wrapping up and putting everything away and you look up and bam. There they are. A customer looking at you, eager to order. It's fine, I guess they just didn't see everything is cleaned up, and you are literally putting stuff away as they are scanning the menu for what they want. No, no, go ahead with your order, I'll just undo the hour of closing work I did.
2. People who don't tip.
Come on. I just made you a $45 order, bagged them all separately and wrote everyones names on them with a smiley face, and you're not going to tip? Do you have a soul? No, you don't because you didn't tip. I get that I'm already making minimum wage, but I'm in college. Isn't that enough to at least get a dollar?
3. The people who substitute everything.
"Can I get the BLT but with no lettuce, no mayo, no tomato and can I add turkey?" Sir, you want a turkey sandwich with bacon. That is not a BLT, and yes, you will be charged extra for the turkey. Go away! Have a nice day!
4. The customers who take forever to order.
If you ask me the price of something, I may actually lose it. There is a giant menu right there in front of you with every single item of food with the prices, so please, be courteous and look at that because it'll speed things up. Asking me every kind of cream cheese or bagel we have also tends to slow things down a bit. Once again, I will direct you to the sign.
5. Co-workers who don't do anything.

I know you just saw that customer walk in, and you're pretending you didn't. Nothing annoys me more than someone leaving me with a bunch of stuff to do when I come in for my shift because they were too lazy to do it themselves. Yes, I get that sometimes it gets really busy and you can't get to everything, but if it's not busy, do your job, please.
6. Switching shifts.
It's great every now and then to help people out and pick up a few extra shifts, but the one time you can't work, no one wants to help you out. Really? Like OK, I'm supposed to believe every one of my co-workers can't work my shift? Whatever, more money for me.
7. Customers who just stare at you until their food is done.
Do you ever get those people who think constantly hovering over the counter, watching you make your food, will make it go faster? These people give me major anxiety. They're watching your every move, and instead of making a sandwich, you feel like you're trying to disarm a bomb. Leave me alone. I'm going as fast as I can.
8. Horrible bosses.
Everyone has had a boss who they can't stand. Whether they're power-hungry and believe you are their personal minion or are just plain rude, you just have to suck it up and do your job and hope your boss calls in sick that day.
9. Rude customers.
Always a favorite of mine: rude customers. It's like as soon as they walked in, they had a goal to make your life as miserable as possible. They have an attitude when they order and they hate whenever they have to repeat what they said. God forbid you say it one more time; I know it's difficult. The worst part about it is you can't do anything. You just have to give them their every demand with a smile on your face.
