Remembering 9/11

As the anniversary of the of the horrific events that took place on September 11th 2001 approaches, it gives our nation time to reflect and remember. The attack sent the world into sorrow as thousand's of innocent lives were taken and wounded. These vicious hijackings brought together New Yorkers and volunteers from all over the country; it brought together America. On this exact day in history I was just a little girl, but as I grew older I learned more and more about 9/11. What happened was petrifying but it also made me realize how proud I am to be a part of this country. Hearing stories along with watching footage and videos on 9/11 showed me how in catastrophic time of need we truly came together as a country.

"Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our strongest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. We will not tire, we will not falter, we will not fail." - George. W Bush

Hearing people's stories and experiences from this day really opened my eyes, and gave me a new appreciation for the strong men and women that surround us and make this country what it is today. I can't imagine being present in New York or at the Pentagon while these events occurred, let alone fighting for my life and others lives. As we mourn and remember all those we lost, we must also be thankful for the bravery and valor from the finest people among us. So In this article I would like to take the time express gratitude towards all of the astounding heroes who took part in serving help on that day and to remember all of beautiful souls we lost.

Thank you to the brave firefighters who entered the smoldering buildings and thank you police officers for patrolling the streets. Thank you every first responder for waking up in the morning and putting your life on the line, for running in while everyone else was running out, and trying your best to keep the victims of 9/11 out of harm's way. To all of the men and women in our armed forces past, present and future; thank you for your sacrifices. To all of the volunteers who came to help from all over your thoughtfulness will never go unnoticed, and your acts of benevolence will never be forgotten. Last but not least I would like to thank the extraordinary heroes who were disguised as everyday citizens. That day whether it was fighting for their own life or helping other people survive to live theirs; these citizens showed us the true meaning of courage. Our everyday people are so brave it makes me exceptionally proud to be under the same homeland as them. Everyone across the country suffered on this day and deserves an immense amount of appreciation for staying so strong. The bravery, courage and humanity shown on 9/11 by our people will never be forgotten.

This piece is also dedicated to all of those who lost their precious life and to the rescuers who died in honor. To the family members who lost loved ones and live in grief; I salute your strength, my thoughts and prayers go out to you. All those who past will never be forgotten; we shall keep them in our minds, our memories and our hearts and take them with us as we carry on. We will remember that the spirit and souls of all our fallen people are unbreakable, we will remember!

One day can change everything. One day can change the world. Always remember, never forget: September 11th, 2001.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
