Whether you're in college, graduated, about to graduate, or already in the "real world" it is never too late to improve yourself. Success does not come easy, but here are some quick tips to help you succeed at life.
1. Say "thank you" more often.
2. Don't compare yourself to others. There will always be someone smarter, prettier, more talented, and better than you. Comparing yourself will not get you ahead.
3. Take more selfies and appreciate your beauty.
4. Talk less about yourself, and listen to others more.
5. Memorize your elevator pitch. You never know when you're going to need it.
6. Always remember: lefty loosey, righty tight-y.
7. Pack extra underwear and socks, and if you can have an extra set of clothes.
8. Keep and emergency kit in your house and car.
9. Laugh at your own embarrassment and awkwardness.
10. Moisturize, especially in the winter.
11. Never stop learning from others. You are never too old to learn and study.
12. Find your passion and try to pursue it. You will change the world.
13. Please use your turn signal.
14. Spend money on toilet paper because one-ply does just not cut it.
15. Always bring an umbrella.
16. Never drive drunk or get into the car with a drunk driver. A DUI, getting injured, or hurting someone else is not worth it. Uber exists for a reason.
17. Use your library and you'll save a ton of money. Sometimes the internet is not as helpful as a book.
18. Cherish yourself and know your worth. Never let anyone take make feel like less than you are.
19. When you are feeling stressed put on some music and clean your room. I promise you will feel so much better.
20. Don't text, call, or email when you are feeling emotional or drunk. Write out what you want to say in your notes app and wait to send it.
21. If you are able to vote then make sure your opinion counts. Even if you're not able to vote, use your voice to make a difference.
22. Trust your gut and first instinct.
23. Have another set of sheets and put them on your bed when you are washing the first set.
24. Start building your credit early, even if it is only paying your Netflix bill every month.
25. Please never put your bras in a dryer, and if your washer is unusually hot then wash them in the shower with a bit of detergent.
26. Know your limits especially when it comes to relationships, alcohol, and food.
27. If you think it is important then write it down. You may not remember it later.
28. Buy a planner, especially if you are in school with assignments and due dates.
29. Be confident in what you wear and don't let the clothes wear you. Nothing looks better than confidence. Dress to impress yourself.
30. Always admit when you're wrong, then apologize and move on.
31. Set alarms for waking up, taking medicine, and reminders. Set multiples if you need it.
32. Make sure to have a backup plan.
33. Unapologetically sing along to the radio and your iPod.
34. And never apologize for your taste in music. People who pretend to hate pop music, just because it is pop music, tend to be very insecure.
35. Learn to be alone. You do not need to be constantly surrounded, nor do not need to talk or text people 24/7.
36. Forgive, but don't forget.
37. Learn to appreciate having good people around. Surround yourself with people who make you want to be a better person.
38. Take your medicine, drink some water, and sit up straight.
39. Consent is not "sexy," it's mandatory.
40. If you are not willing to put your name on it, then don't do it.
41. Own a little black dress.
42. Learn to move on from failures, included, but not limited to, relationships, friendships, love, assignments, and projects.
43. Treasure yourself and take time for yourself.
44. Learn what calms you down, whether it is coloring, watching Netflix, going for a run, or just listening to music.
45. Go to therapy if you have to or want to. It does not mean you are "crazy," nor is anyone else who goes.
46. Think before you post on the internet. Not only is the internet forever but so are screenshots.
47. Rotate your towels, especially your washcloth.
48. Express your opinion, but don't force it onto other people.
49. Educate yourself on issues and politicians before you vote.
50. Your mom can be wrong, but she is usually right.
51. You owe it to yourself to grow, so don't stand in your own way.
52. Your friends are here to help with your problems, no matter how arbitrary or big. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
53. Do not yell at someone in a service job and always leave a tip. Waitressing is harder than you think and you never know what is happening in someone's personal life.
54. You are allowed to disagree, but still like or love someone.
55. Always bring two pens or pencils, and a notebook to meetings and class.
56. Don't leave your home without a water bottle. Hydration is important.
57. Do not go food shopping when you're hungry. Also don't go shopping when you're feeling impulsive.
58. Just because something is on sale does not mean you need to buy it.
59. Take time for pleasure reading. Comics, graphic novels, and fanfic count.
60. Save the free samples you get at hotels. You can put them in your bathroom for guests.
61. Always have an extra pad, tampon, condom, hair tie, and charger.
62. Back up your contacts and keep very important phone numbers outside of your phone or computer.
63. If someone cannot fix something about their appearance in 10 seconds or less, then do not point it out.
64. Nothing needs to be perfect, and that includes you.
65. Always sleep the night before a test. Sleeping will help more than extra studying.
66. Allow for second chances, but never thirds.
67. You are allowed to end any relationship, and the other person is allowed to end it too. When someone says it's over then it is over.
68. Listen to criticism, but do not feel as though you need to change yourself or work to appease others.
69. Celebrate your accomplishments, even the little ones.
70. Friends, family, pet, and dresses with pockets are more important than money.
71. Say what you are thinking. You will only regret everything you didn't say but meant to. Take a chance, but don't use this as an excuse to be rude.
72. Understand your banks fees and overdraft policies. Know if you are required to keep a certain amount of money in your bank account. Understand ATM fees.
73. Choose what mountain you want to die on. It can be better to lose an argument than a relationship or friendship.
74. Follow expression dates. They exist for a reason.
75. You are not required to love someone back.
76. Befriend co-workers and classmates.
77. Apathy is not cool, being excited about life and your passions is cool.
78. The secret to looking good in anything you wear is confidence.
79. Look for the good in others, and you will find it in yourself.
